Cloke a Magpie for Life

After tonight, Eddie will not allow Cloke to leave. Cloke will get his money and his 5 years. Maybe not a million a year, but perhaps $900k per year, unconditional. They will get rid of players like Didak, Tarrant, maybe even Dawes to find the money. Eddie would rather die than see him in a blue jumper.

Also for those thinking of us getting Wellingham, you can forget it.

more interesting is the Hawks depth...they have to adjust their list after they win the premiership

They simply cant afford to RL, plus you have to consider the effects Malthouse will have ect

I wouldn't at all be surprised if we still snagged Cloke, even after what Neeld said on Fox last week, that we had not made a play and were not interested.

Wouldn't count us out on Sharrod as we have what they want = Stef Martin

Well, he may or may not be a Magpie for life, but his price will sure as hell have gone up considerably.

ADDENDUM: The Visy plant has just gone into overtime making extra brown paper bags in anticipation of a hectic free agent / trade period.

Collinwood can't afford for Carton to steal the march toward another Cup, thru the Clokes.

If they the pies keep Cloke, they won't want carton to get Dawes.

IMO they're will be spillage. But the clubs will be like seagulls at a Picnic.

I concur. Do the Pies want to go into 2013 with Dawes in the Leigh Brown Role. Martin is contracted for 2013 and we ain't going to give him away cheaply. His value lies in his athleticism and flexibilty in the age of the sub. Indeed Neeld may decide that playing Martin and Clark up forward with Jamar in the ruck/resting on bench is advantageous.

One thing is certain is that if they don't make the granny then there will be some interesting times at the Pies and one of the first items looked at will be forward/relieving ruck position.

I was at the game tonight and thought the same thing. Collingwood have plenty of mids similiar to Sharrod (Pendles, Daisy, Sidebottom, Beams) but they desperately need to get Dawes out of the second ruck role. Neeld clearly doesn't want Stef, we could really use Wellingham...it would be win win.

Also, how horrifying is it to think that we were into Dawes before we were into Mitch!!! We would have been blamed for turning him into a spud whilst Clark was finals bound with Freo....

GOOD THEY CAN HAVE HIM ! re cloke

be cool to see dawes go to carlscum , , that means we dont get the log , go scum get him , please , do us a fav !

He's not a spud. He's not a superstar, but he does play a role as we'd need. I'm glad we didn't get him back then, as I thought he was overvalued, but that doesn't mean he is valueless..

He is a player we could definitely use. Dawes & Clarke IMO would be a good Foil for one another, especially when a watts possibly returns as a 3rd tall, after another year down back.

Jesus! Are you serious?

Have you watched any Collingwood games of late?

Clearly we will dismiss your last comment

Not this year no..

Don't need to, Dawes can play.. he hasn't had a major head injury..

If he's out of form under Buckley then thats all it is. If you can play for a number of years at the top level, you don't go into can't play mode... maybe just off form.

He to my mind was NEVER a super star. But also he is, very handy.

#Edit: last comment, dismiss away if it gives you jollies.

I'd argue that he failed his role tonight. Struggled to take a grab all night (3 marks for the game), had 5 hit outs as a second ruckman, constantly fumbled or didn't hit a target with his disposal and the one goal he did manage was a flukey snap from a stoppage. At the moment I wouldn't rate him in the pies best 22.

We presently have far too many players that would have been as useful as a cold pie last night, such was the intensity of the game.

I won't name names, but you've probably got a clue ...

Buckley has ruined the Pies game plan. They no longer have 4 players at every fall of the ball. Their tackling pressure has gone. Malthouse was a much better coach. Hopefully Neeld picked up enough from him to coach the Dees to a higher level. I'm not sure why he doesn't like Stef Martin. I think Martin is developing into a good player. Moloney is a sook. Bate, Frawley, Morton, Petterd, Gysberts have been disappointing. Bate is slow and misses too many goals. Frawley makes too many poor decisions. Morton is just plain useless, puny and stupid. He actually is deluded that he is a footy player. Petterd has become lazy and doesn't go in hard for contests. Gysberts has had injuries and hasn't been given enough of a chance yet. He's also puny.

Does his name start with "Jack Watts"?

Also, Stef Martin has been injured most of the year. I don't think anyone can say with certainty that Neeld "doesn't like him," unless you have info from the horse's mouth that I don't.

I'm not certain wellingham is the player we need right now apart from his ability and ex factor we need more leaders who will bring commitment and work ethic I'm not saying I know for fact wellingham doesn't have that but he appears IMO opinion to be a bit loose collingwood have a great record of keeping these types of personalities in order and get the best out if them do we? As for Cloke he would be a great pick up as much as we need a midfield if we can get the ball into our forward 50 Cloke and Clarke is mouthwatering almost unstoppable.

Too many have been "injured" this year. They're weak and puny and have a poor work ethic and no great burning desire for footy. They let minor sprains and strains and emotional upsets put them out of action for months.

Not a spud, but well on the way to becoming one.

One of the best midfields going around feeding him the ball on a platter and he takes 3 marks! He'd be lucky to touch the ball in our team. He'd be running around like a wildebeest on his own in the pocket.

No thanks. Rather Stef Martin at CHF than Dawes. And I don't want that either.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
