Key Position Forward - who do you think we can/should get

On Fitzy I reckon he'll be a constant fixture in the team next year in the old Leigh Brown role.

2nd ruck/3rd tall forward. We wont loose much around the ground with his speed and he's a very servicable ruckman.

VFL game earlier this year he played no1 ruck against Port Melbourne and was best on ground. I think Fitzy has just about arrived.

Amazing how his form turned around after he was properly diagnosed for his condition.

I like the development of Fitzy, especially since his diagnosis. If his diabetes is managed well he may flourish more. Also I read somewhere he was touted a top draft pick in his year before he was struck down with CFS, which turns out to be diabetes. Good Upside to Fitz.

I like Gumby too. Imagine 3 forwards around 198 to 200 cms. All mobile targets who can kick goals and play the ball on the ground. A very hard match up for oppositions. Add Howe and two genuine fast small forwards

Brodie Grundy!!! Pick 3. He can play ruck & forward. Grundy will step straight into best 22.

I also like Justin Westoff as a trade, but wont happen. Zac Clarke is possible, but not if we take Grundy!

I liked Lynch 2 years ago! Not now.

Develop who we have. Williams?

Clark this year thrived, I think, in part because he stepped out of the Jonathan Brown shadow. He relished being the number one attacking player.

Unless he suddenly goes backwards, we now have our A-grade forward. This trade/draft period should be centred on finding at least one A-grade midfielder (one more if you think Jones now deserves that title). A solid B-grade big bloke to complement, but not get in the way of Clark would be ideal.

If we knew for sure that we would get Grundy, I would imagine Martin and Spencer then become surplus. With Russian, Max and Fitzy, plus Mitch to help out if needed, we would be well covered.

the stuff i've heard is he just wants to go home, and the suns /bris arent offering that much more. i know he's a decent player, but i haven't really seen him play a good game at the G (mind you i didn't see the last Dees v Crows game at the G - he probably kicked 6...)

He and Walker dominated us, in that game.

Yeah i agree with redleg.

We have Clark who is now our main KPF (who can play relief ruck), Fitz, Spencer, martin not to mention Jamar as our no 1 ruck, im not sure if another ruck who can play forward is the answer we need. especially as he is a young draftee.

i think we need someone who is a specialist CHF.

Having said that i do like the look of grundy but just not sure he's the first place we should be looking when we need an established or semi established CHF.

Not that i think its a priority for them, but i reckon they'll also be taking into consideration someone who'll be putting bumbs on seats to create a little bit of buzz given the disastrous year we have had.

ha ha - i thought that would be the case!!!

having said that everyone has dominated us this year, except the expansion clubs!!!

if we keep on going like we have this year then they will be putting the boot into us too!!!

The market is thin; a lot of names thrown up here are either staying put or pipe-dreams - save for a few ring ins.

I want a big dog. All this does is enrage my appetite for this guy:

I forgot all about Sean McKernan. I really rate him for one quality that is rare - he is a one grab mark. rarely fumbles a mark and launches at a contest. his ground level 2nd efforts might need some work, but if Adelaide keep Tippet, go hard for him.

Gumby and Hogan would be my preference.

Mainly because I'd laugh at yelling "GUMBY!!!" and doing a Col Klink impression "Hogan!".

And when Hogan ended up in a spot on the ground where he shouldn't be we could all yell "Rouse, Rouse, Rouse!!!!!'

I'd take Tippett in a blink. No even more, I'd actively chase him and offer good money. He's tall (200cm), he's athletic, can mark, can kick and has guts. I'd love him and Clarke in the same forward line and it would cause major headaches to the opposition. (Always, of course, hoping that Tippett himself does'nt get any more headaches!)

While I'd love Tippett we would be zero chance of landing him. Many will point out that we swayed Clark to change his mind but Tippett won't give up being at such a club that will go deep in to the finals unless he goes home - I wouldn't have thought any amount of money would be able to sway him. Would love to be proved wrong but I don't think we can come into any sort of calculations.

I would have thought the club would look long and hard at getting someone to play forward. With Cook on the way out we don't really have a specialist tall forward outside of Mitch Clark on our list. All we have are ruckmen who can play forward or medium sized forwards. Wouldn't be against an experienced tall like an Edwards and also drafting a young forward as well, although I have a feeling the club will look at midfielders in the draft.

If we can land one without giving too much up then that would be a win.

Has anyone seen Shaun McKernan Play? Cant seem to find much info on this bloke.

Everybody seems to really rate him here on this post - on that basis he sounds interesting.

What are the chances that Tippett will be leaving adelaide?

Do we have anything we can offer Adelaide to get McKernan if Tippett stays? draft pic maybe?

No shame in being the out the team with Tippett and Walker on fire this year...

Agree that i don't think we are a chance to get Tippett.

McKernan cannot kick for peanuts. Wouldn't be able to hit the side of a barn, let alone kicking accurately at the goal.

Got some footage here.

Looks like a good mark! and he looks ok kicking for goal. obviously this isn't much to go on though.

At least Neil Craig would have seen a fair bit of him so he'd be able to make a decent decision on him you would have thought...

the only question is if the dees want him, would the crows let him go (assuming Tippett stays with the crows)

anyone know anything about this?

Not sure what it would take to get McKernan over. Maybe they'd do a swap with Cook?

Fitzy will actually tell you that he's a forward who can ruck and not the other way around.

I reckon we'll trade/free agent sign one KPF in and draft another. And that doesn't include the possability of picking up Hogan in the MD.

Some rumors still suggest Cloke has signed with Pies, but remains unannounced? I don't know, but if it is true he may stay, then they may have to shed some to allow him to fit in?

So with that scenario,,, maybe a trade of Martin for Dawes could be a good fit for us. Dawes would be a handy foil for Clarke & has size.

Other than that, The West-Gysberts thing... I would want a 1st Rnd pick, even if a late one for Gys at his age, & I rate West as no more than 2nd Rnd.

So, either a verygood pick, or a real player of value, or we simply keep him & shake the living shyte out of him to try to get him fired up.

Q train I reckon would be good fit for 2 Years with his big body who can throw it about a bit & in the ruck.

We have to stop the Blues getting him & helping them approach another Cup.

If we had QLynch we could trade Martin, & maybe to the Pies for a pick around 18 or a player. They are in their window & Buckley may want to get Martin in?

Hogan would be great & would fit in well IMO with Q Lynch timeframe.

I'd like us to throw the Proverbial Kitchen Sink at McKernan.. Just get him....

Thats not how I remember him from the U-18's? I think he was a good kick for goal, can't remember his field kicking?

Forget Tippett, go hard at McKernan anyway.

I think he's good on his feet as well. Strong in the air & In packs as I remember.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
