Huh?

He can sign anywhere for anything.

I know. you don't think he would feel for his Club, (Old club) if her decides to go, & his mates here, to Try to help them & club,,, If he decides on the Cats?

He could be fielding offers from Ross Lyon, he would fit Rosses defence strategies well IMO. Not to mention the Hawks, Saints defence, even the Swannies would love to get a player of his character.

So the Cats may have to fight for him, if they want Jared.

Jared could well be in a position of some decisions? And could help our cause.

If he wanted to help his mates or "help our cause", wouldn't he stay?

Some still dont get it.

If we get any compensation.

Highly likely we'll be signing free agents, and if we sign ones that are considered (by the AFL) as good as the ones we've lost, we get NOTHING.

He also wants to help himself too. He hasn't decided yet.

Deserves success. Love Riv, and I'll be devastated if we lose him, as will the club. Massively underrated player as far as importance to our backline goes.

that is in the end.

If Rivers leaves there is a value ascribed by the AFL to this occurence.

Im still leaning that there is A compensation should your losses be more than your gains, others suggest its piecemeal . Either way the only compensatory value is provided for by the Leauge.

Look, I'm no Solicitor, don't know about LAW, but if it where me, & I fielded offers from the 3 or 4 clubs I've mentioned (Hypothetical) I would not sign with the aging Cats team until they offered (IF the Cats wanted Gysberts, former P12,,, & Melbourne wanted they're P16 or P17 - 1st Rnd Comp' Pick in exchange) this deal.

It hangs on whether Rivers is in demand in a very even top 5 AFL clubs at the moment. Pie in the Sky? Maybe not.

Is it possible? I don't know the Legalities.

You re discussing bluff and bravado, has nothign really to do with legalites.

Personally, I don't think there's an actual "formula" as such. It's just too hard to evaluate a players importance on a set of numbers. My guess is there would be a committee or group that discuss a given players value to a team and go from there.

Moloney is a good example of this. BnF and high Brownlow vote getter in 2011, poor season in 2012, those things would have to balance each other out when club changes are taken into consideration.

so thers no formula...but a committee will decide through discussion upon particualr parameters ?

its not just me is it ?

I didn't say anything about particular parameters. All I said was that IN MY OPINION there's too many indefinables in a players importance to a club, and the AFL would surely have to take that into consideration, rather than just having something like BnF votes + Total possesions / draft position x years at club - salary = value.

Stuie..how else do you suppose a committe wil ajudicate value if not by some yardstick or such. This by any name is but a parameter and as such it would have some presribed variables.

You might even call it a formula.

Such things as were they in the top 25% of earners etc for the club are all taken into consideration. .

Youre dismissing one set of values and proffering others. It might be all or none. But Iimagine how they rate one player will be carried across the board.

its really just swings and roundabouts. ( but we try to avoid the slide )

Ok Bub, I'll try and explain it to you AGAIN... I'll try to keep it short

There are indefinable qualities in players, things like leadership for example, that there aren't numbers available to dictate importance. What I'm saying is that the AFL can't rely just on a formula because these things are important to a club and should be taken into consideration.

Posted

you obviously dont understand what a formula can constitute.

Your so called indefinable qualites are exaclty that DEFINABLE. They can be introduced as variables.

Its EXACTLY what a formula does.. It computes anynumber of inputs according to a guideline.

If you dont get that....stop !!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
