How many changes to the list?

Featured Replies

You sure or am I misunderstanding this ?

I think the change is only to maximum & minimum numbers ie 6 maximum & no minimum. Meaning you can have none if you choose.

Anyway I reckon 8.

That's a very good find, so ...

40 on primary list - no limit to "vets", each gets $100k discount on TPP

6 on rookie list

That means a total of 46 like this year but one extra on the primary list and one less rookie for us.

I'm going for 12 off total, including rookies - with some exchanging places between primary and rookie not counted.

I said 11-12 a few Weeks ago could be even more.

Go Neeld. This is your job on he line here...

Edited by why you little

I have a little inside info with our great club and would never release something that could hurt the club. And if you read any of my preseason posts im pretty spot on. Enough of the tyre pumping lol. This is what ive been told.

We will delist 11 players at this stage but the final cut has not been made.

GONE ALREADY

Green - Retired

Lawrence(rookie) - Retired

Jurrah - Gone

Maloney - Gone

Evans(rookie) - to be delisted

TRADE OR DELIST

Bate

Petterd

cook

Morton

TRADE OR KEEP

Martin

Gysberts

After these possible departures we are looking at the following;

Drafting 6

Rookie 2

Trade or Buy 3

Gone

Green, Jurrah, Moloney, Lawerence

Going

Bate, Petterd, Cook, Bennell, Couch

Potential Trade

Martin, Morton, Gysberts

I think Rivers is 50/50... I think the club would like him to stay but he may want to finish his career at a more successful team if he gets the offer.

Bartram and Davey are done but they'll be next year but whether they get on the park is another thing.

People questioning who will replace them need only look at Magner to see that you can bring in mature recruits who can fire for at least part of the year. lets be open about where we're at - bottom of the ladder with one win. Neeld looks up to Malcolm Blight - who sacked 16 as coach.

I said in early August to expect 10 to 12 changes.

People thought I was joking.

I could find 15 easy.

Four down and Cook / Gysberts are pencilled in.

That leaves nine out-of-contract players in limbo until October. If Petterd is on the nose then Bate, Dunn and Bennell can't be far behind.

Do we carry Davey or Bartram through 2013? Rivers is a curious one, too.

MacDonald, Davis and Sellar are solid bodies who play Neeld's game and hence they'll survive.

I'll take a second-rounder for Martin. And then there's Big Cale.

My guess? 13

Do it back to front - how many INS do you want?

Picks 3, 4, 13, Viney, Comp Pick (Moloney) 30, 52, CP (Bate) 53, CP (Dunn) 54 (or whatever it is - frigging hard to work out who gets what and when...)

That is 8 picks by the end of the 3rd round (that is a definite statement - the lowest comp for a FA is a 3rd round pick if Moloney, Bate and Dunn find homes elsewhere)

Nicholson gets upgraded - possibly Evans.

Two FAs possibly?

There is 11 or 12.

20-25% of the list will be changed. The last 5 years have dictated this.

Our list compared to most teams in the comp is light years behind.

Watch this years final series.

How far is the gap???

11 changes for me:

gone: Cook, Moloney, Green, Jurrah

going: Petterd, Bate, Morton, Bennell, Jetta, Rivers (free agent), Gysberts trade to Geelong

That means

picks 3,4,13, 17 (Cats pick), 25 (Viney), compo pick 3rd round x2 for Rivers and Moloney and pick 45 = 8 draftees

pre season draft #3

one free agent

Nicolson as a rookie upgrade

= 11 IN.

so geelong give up a late first rounder for a player that the worst team in the comp doesn't want? hahahahahahahhahahaha. 3rd rounder.

If Evans goes I will be really disappointed. I think he has a lot of ability.

But he has the worse back in the AFL at present

It helps if you can get on the park.

Just shows you can be wrong most of the time but you cant be a complete [censored] all the time.

Im going with 31 players will be the same.

well wasnt that far off. 32 the result. It was the cleanout that was always going to happen.....and good :)

I picked the numbers (14) and even down to the players (with Sellar my only offie). Yes I am the man...

12 to 15:

Gawn already:

Green

Moloney

Jurrah

Lawrence (rookie so doesnt count)

Trade bait (with all due respect):

Morton (has another year but its as clear as daylight)

Martin (GC for Caddy?)

Petterd (I loved this bloke, dont want him to go but I have a feeling)

Rivers (keep hearing rumours)

Dunn (fattening up the calf perhaps?)

Watts (unlikely but stranger things have happened)

Strauss (there are rumours)

Gysberts (there are rumours)

Bail (a QLD boy for Josh Caddy/Toy)?

Potential to be delisted or traded if possible:

Bate

Bennell

Cook (could be too soon, but it doesnt look good)

Retirement?

Aaron Davey (I worry about his injuries and his limp)

I doubt all of these will come out but there is potential for a few more than 12!!

Not bad.

Give me your picks for the Flemington carnival-I like your strike rate.

But has the cull finished (for this year, I mean)? Is there still a possibility of more before whatever the next cut off date is? Has every player who was out of contract been either re-contracted or delisted/traded/retired/free agency transferred?

There are still 7 OOC. Sellar, Spencer, Jetta, Bail, Dunn, Batram, and Davis.

They can be delisted.

Thanks rfpc.

I guess even if the club wants to retain all of those seven, negotiations could still fail on terms - such as length of contract offered. So it's still possible that there could be between zero and 7 more delistings. (Apologies for stating the obvious.)

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
