Liking the recruiting under Neeld so far. Clark has obviously been a big success (up until the injury), Seller deserves another year and has looked pretty good in spots, Taggert had something special about him in the little game time I saw him play (pace, strength and penetrating kicking) and Tynan looks like he has great upside. Can't help notice the difference in body types as opposed to the recruiting under Bailey and earlier.

For the time being. Can't say they do much more than try hard and put themselves on the line (which, of course, is admirable). They are not particularly skilled enough for the longer term. Poor disposal and questionable decision-makers.

Do believe the others mentioned show some early promise.

A year or two out from the draft really shows which players have the desire to play at the highest level - some work their arse off in the VFL to earn a rookie spot while others give it up and get on with their lives. Magner and Couch are the former IMO.

Williams will be a gun

Magner needs to be allowed to play his game. His year went downhill when they started using him as a tagger and in odd roles around the place. Put him under the feet of the rucks and let him rack up clearances. That is his value to the team.

On topic: admittedly I haven't noticed his skill sets so I am rating him based mostly on intangible qualities. But like his brother Luke, Josh appears to be a solid, reliable worker and has a future with us.

At the moment I would prefer to have Luke working the half back line over Dunn and Watts....

I think the kid will be a brick wall at half back when he gets older. I remember seeing his highlight reel, looked like a legacy to get the ball past him.

I don't think Couch is good enough for AFL and Magner is just a battler. I would be shocked if we couldn't find better late in the draft. I would prefer to turn Gysberts around mentally and get him fit for once, draft a few mids including JV and maybe trade for one as well. I would try and rookie fast, small, goalkickers and hope that at least one makes it.

I reckon Josh is a good kid and really has a lot to offer but I wouldn't right off Sheahan so quickly.

Gotta like this kid. He looks the goods, has an impressive physique for a younger player and has grunt. He will be in starting 22 next year.

His athletic abilities and attitude will take him a long way toward playing a lot of games for us. Needs to polish other aspects of his game but I like what I see.

I think Josh Tynan will prove a valuable pickup. And Jai Sheahen looked great at Casey one day. But that is all I can say about the later.

Maybe, maybe not, but Magner & Couch can fill in, whilst the draftees develop. And they cause competition for spots.

No doubt that they were recruited simply to fill a few gaps over the next year or two while Neeld develops the younger players or trades for better ones. They do enough but there was a reason why they were overlooked for so long. Can't fault their endeavour, courage or work ethic but they won't be around for the long haul.
