Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

jake stringer playing for bendigo gold on the ABC now for anyone interested.

Thanks, I watched the second half. And while he didn't get a lot of it he's got a great footy brain and looks a prospect. He looked as comfortable at that level in a final as he did when I watched him in the u18 championships. He finished with approx. 15 disposals and a goal.

He's a very difficult player to peg. He looks really at home on the ball, but can play forward and kick goals, so I understand the Pavlich comparisons that I've read. Clearly I haven't seen enough of him, but from what I have I'd be very comfortable giving up pick 13. I just hope we get one of Kennedy, Menzel, Stringer, Garlett, or Wines at that pick. Surely one of them will be available. I'd prefer any of those players to Caddy.

The good thing is, given Essendpn finish outside the 8, our pick basically goes up by 1, seeing that they will have to part with their 1st rounder for Daniher (though that's still a massive win for them, would be rapt to have gotten him at pick 1 if we had it.)

I stand up and take notice when Knightmare's BF mock draft says: "Stringer is probably the best talent in the draft and had it not been for a broken leg this season I would probably have him at no.1.

"Stringer’s conditioning isn’t nearly where it was pre-injury and doesn’t seem to have his trademark explosiveness and leaping ability back yet and the endurance is nowhere near where it was but what’s encouraging is that he is still attacking the ball as hard as ever and working as hard as he can to impose himself on games."

This is what I witnessed today. Despite his (temporary) limitations he was rummaging around packs and influencing contests. But what I liked most was his core strength; his tackling was hard and effective. His disposal is both clean and classy and I loved the sidestep hugging the boundary on a back flank.

The question remains if he'll get snapped up inside the top 10. Knightmare seems to think he'll fall at 17 - that's daylight robbery. With Viney and Toumpas / O'Rourke / Wines we could afford to let Jake rehabilitate throughout 2013 with minimal pressure. I absolutely believe he is a player worth waiting for.

Stringer was equal-third in the 'Clean Hands Test' and equal-first in the 'Goal Kicking Test' at the Draft Combine.

Just saw this, shows that he still has his skills. doubt he will slide too our pick 14 with some good results like that. we could get a real bargain. goal kicking was excellent but didnt feature in the top 10 in the field kicking, cant win them all i guess. This is why he was rated as a top 3 pick pre-injury

I wouldn't be disappointed if we picked him up at 4 to be honest. Stringer looks as though he is going to be a gun at the top level.

One of the most impressive things about him is recording these testing results after coming back from that serious injury. At some point in AFL life all players will have to battle through this process. He's passed with flying colours!

Ideally now... Stringer at 14. If it was between him and Hogan at 4, jeepers Hogan looks real' good! But Stringer's going to be a brilliant player for whoever he puts on the boots for.

Pick 13 is a long shot- I know someone involved in Bulldogs recruiting and McCartny is very keen on this kid. They are more than likely to pick him up if they don't use their picks on Martin.

They are rumoured to be using their picks on Martin.

Love Stringer but after the events of the last couple of days the recruiters might be after a bit more outside pace instead of a heavy body.

Toumpas at 4 would be awesome, O'Rourke another possibility. I'd like Kennedy but he will probably fall somewhere in the no man's land between our pick 4 and the next pick we end up with.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
