Hi everyone,

Pleased be advised that there will be a complete outage of the site on the evening of Monday, 9th of July (I'm targetting around 8pm AEST). This is due to an issue with the current hosting and the need to move off it on short (ish) notice.

This is a fairly major operation (think: moving your entire house and needing to assemble everything back the way it was at the other end!), and it may take some time before users can "see" the site online again. I don't expect the site to be offline for any more than an hour or two, though it may appear offline for longer to people individually as some of the changes being made take time to "filter" through the internet.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Cheers

Thanks Nasher.

You've been providing great service for the Demonland and Demonology Internet community for a long time and your work is greatly appreciated.

Last time we went through this I lost my avatar for a while. I hope there's no danger of that this time?

The End of Demonland ...... Almost

The other day we were given the boot by our current hosting provider. They informed us that our arrangement was no longer financially viable to them and that we had a week to find a new home. After 12 years of running and paying for this site I felt that it was a good time to end it all. We had a very good arrangement with our hosting provider (basically free) and I did not want to have to look for a new home and feared that the expenses would again begin to mount. It's not only the financially side that I did not want to contend with but the countless hours of work involved in running the site and making sure that it runs smoothly. The last time we paid for hosting it was a nightmare and the site had many problems. It was slow and could not handle the volume of traffic that occurs post match. I was ready to throw in the towel then. Fortunately we were thrown a lifeline by Vagg and given free hosting on a server that was very quick and hassel free. All good things must come to an end. Vagg's association with the company ended and we were very lucky to continue on there unnoticed for a very long time. Unfortunately our arrangement has been discovered and we are being forced to vacate and the prospect daunts me for many of the reasons listed above. Being a father with a growing family I simply do not have the time or the funds to continue unless we find a solution that is stable, hassle free and financially viable.

Luckily Nasher has agree once again to take up the hosting reigns and we are hoping that the costs will stay down. However, Nasher has already spent a lot of time on the move and being a father like myself that time is very precious. No doubt his time over the next few weeks will be used up making sure the site is running smoothly. So with all that said I thought it was a good time to ask the good people of Demonland to put their money where their mouth is and helps us out here. Below is a link to donations where you can contribute as much or as little as you want. I will be passing the majority of it on to Nasher for his time and efforts in running and maintaining the site. The rest will be going towards the message board software license fees, domain registration and other associated costs with the hosting of the site including extra bandwidth if needed. Currently all these cost either come out of my pocket, through subscriptions to Demonland (which isn't much) and through revenue from advertisements clicks on the site (which also isn't much). Any assistance the community members of Demonland could contribute is always greatly appreciated.

To donate any amount to Demonland please follow this link: DONATE TO DEMONLAND

If you would like to subscribe to Demonland for either 1 year ($20) or Lifetime ($50) please follow this link: SUBSCRIBE TO DEMONLAND

Taking out a Demonland subcriptions will remove the Advertisements from the site as well as offer you a mobile skin for viewing the site on a smartphone.

Obviously none of these options are mandatory but please be reminded that a lot of hard work and time goes in to bringing you this forum for free.

Also just a reminder that we will be moving to our new home tonight, Monday 9th of July (around 8pm AEST). More information here. Please be patient whilst we iron out any bugs.

I am a refugee from Demonology. A suggest from there was that we run a garage sale to fund raise for the site. I

Is that concept applicable here??? I certainly have some general (useful not junk) items to offer .

Also some Demon stuff that might trade with in our MFC crew.

Scenario requires a volunteered garage, volunteers to cover what might be the two mornings, goods collection. Maybe a BBQ.

No costs. Evreything donated. Requires that a few people "Dont think - DO"

Objective would be to raise $2000 - 3000, maybe more. I have golf clubs, framed pics, MFC jumper with team of the century embroided & other 'stuff'.

Requirements are venue, support staff, man/gal with van for inbound items collection & tip run after the event. Maybe snags & coffee donated.

FUNDRAISING

***Any golfers out there who would like to play virtual golf at St Andrews old course? Fantastic technology & only takes two hours for up to 4 to play 18 holes. Also offers great game analysis & lesson facilities.

Mt Waverly location & cost is $100. Fantastic simulation & very specific analysis of your swing, that can be downloaded.

Your fee paid directly to Demonland.

### Hope this thinking fits within Demonland policy(?).

Hi all. I want to apologise for my part in this mess. I was very pleased to be able to step in and provide the free hosting of this wonderful site through the business I was then a part of. Regrettably, there was a messy parting of the ways a couple of years back, and I've been dreading this eventuality ever since. I'm afraid it has been a case of when, and not if. Thankfully, the powers at be overlooked the arrangement for the past couple of years.

Now, I can only say how much I appreciate Nasher being able to step into the breach, and how sorry I am that this has become necessary.

I truly hope the switch-over is as painless and seamless as possible.

Thanks again to Andy, Nasher & all else who make this wonderful site possible. A day doesn't go by when I don't trawl the site for the latest goss at least once or twice.

Go Dees!

Well, if you're reading this, it means we made it through to the other side. Yay. Give me a like so I can see you're alive!

Not sure how this host is going to go as it's a method of hosting we haven't tried before. The acid test will come on the weekend when we get smashed by Freo by 10 goals; let's see how the server copes.

I can't see the "new" site on my phone (Telstra) or my PC through my ISP (Telstra) but if I get on the cafe next doors free wireless internet (Optus) I can see the new site.

Well done Nasher. Let's keep an eye on things and hopefully we won't need to move again.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
