i'd rather stick skewers into my eyes than have kyle reimers on our team......even reading his name on the list m,akes me want to wash my eyes with bleach

Make up your mind dude-bleach or skewers.

I agree Josh Toy would be also worth an offer ... maybe offer a 3yr contract at $250k per annum. This kid can play . Unsure why he is out of the winless Suns team

Well worth a look, there were big raps on this kid.

Living on the gold coast I went to most suns home games and I would hesitate to give this kid a rookie contract...

Think Cale Morton crossed with uninterested trav jonstone but shorter, skinnier and less ticker but with a nicely manicured perm

It does. I think injury is part of it but really don't know for sure.

What about Josh Caddy (I think thats his name) from GC?

I think the Dons tried to get him last yr but couldnt get the deal done.

Patrick Karnezis

James Gwilt

David Mackay

Karnezis and Mackay would not change, and Gwilt is settled at StKilda. (!!!)

Focus on needs.

moore from sydney, serviceable, but great leadership skills, something we lack.

You sure you know what you're talking about..?

Josh Toy was a man-child.

By now he's just a man.

Never know with Karnezis. I know him mutually and speak to his cousin, my neighbour regularly, and it seems as though Brisbane are trying to add the HBF/Midfield role to his already strong HFF role. Could be a potential target but is happy and settled. Doubt he will leave unless something unbelievable happens withing the next 3 or so months!

Willing to admit that I may have gotten carried away saying that he was skinnier than Morton, but I stand by the rest

No doubt the kid was probably a very good jnr but I saw that blonde mop 2-3metres off every pack, trailing half a dozen paces behind every contest and consistently shirking the hard ball.

In my circle he was dubbed 'the poodle' and it was not a term of endearment

Toy may have had other issues - he had to leave his Vic family early as one of the 12 best 17yos in that compromised draft of 2009. It's possible he hasn't settled in up in the Gold Coast, and is keen to return home. I think all the Vic clubs would take him on, but not as a first round pick.

He's not fringe but I know Melbourne are having a play for Brendon Goddard

Alot of people on these threads are just p!ssing into the wind naming any old player that comes to mind or is fringe at best. We already have enough of our own.

Please people focus on needs, remember we arent going to win a flag in the near future, don't get your hopes up that Jack Viney will automatically come straight in and be a superstar, I'm still not totally sold on his disposal quality myself. He will be consistent and always give his all and put his head in the firing line, but I'm not so sure he's elite class personally, I have him rated about 8th in the draft.

We desperately needs mids, quality/classy & maybe pacey mids. You can have as many big bodies grunt players as you like but if they keep turning it over then its not going to win you games of footy. We have a few big bodied mids who when they actually do turn it over are too slow to give a good chase. On turnovers our disposal is atrocious for AFL standard, I'm sure I could hit a target better! I thought over the years this may have improved but to me it doesnt look like it will (which frustrates me) so hence why we need to draft mids that are accurate disposers of the footy.

So classy mids & maybe a couple of rookie/late draft small forwards, theres normally a few around late draft as theyre either considered too short or too much risk involved. Ive put up stats before about small forwards & Milnes stats are way above anyone else for consistancy etc. Betts not far behind, but theres not too many that make it & kick goals consistantly. We need a big influx of goals from our mids from next year onwards, alot of the top teams have their mids kicking a couple of goals a game whereas we struggle. Eg: Swan, Pendles, Beams, Thomas, Sidebottom always snag a few between them, they dont really have a designated small forward who pops up week in/week out kicking goals.

Unlike some on here I actually think Lucas Cook will make it, probably at FF with Clark as a damaging roaming CHF. Lucas has all the attributes & skill levels & is impressing at VFL level with his marking, leading & creating contests, just because he hasnt kicked bags of late doesnt mean he isnt doing his forward role well. I was talking to Lucas the other day and he said hes keen to start round 1 next year and make the FF position his own, he said he just needs to get a bit bigger/stronger and he will be all good. He said he was 195cm & 88kgs. He said hes really improved his leading to the right areas & creating a contest.

I rate Neeld, he is the culture changer that this club desperately needed, still not totally convinced he can coach yet but I will give him his time, its been a bad year. Also the poor bugger just doesnt have the quality & intelligence he probably had at the Pies so I reckon his coaching will come to the fore when we draft some elite mids, hopefully!

All going well pick 3,4,13 & Viney, plus a fit Gysberts, Trengove, Jurrah, Cook things might start turning our way. By all means snag a couple of free agents along the way, some late draft fringe players if need be & dispose of the rubbish that is making "OUR" football club look pathetic. Remember our mission to be the "club of the decade" anyone?? Expect big changes at seasons end & I can say I know the club is targetting another power forward & 3 quality mids, could be from draft, do not stress, our recruiting is in good hands & I wouldnt be suprised if we didnt snag Matt Rendall in the future also.

Have a good day!

MY point being is that we need to get rid of our fringe player and bring in others that will perform better. Our current fringe players would not get a game in any other club

Spencer = Spud

Bate - is he a midfielder or mid sized forward. He is definately SLOW

Petterd - slow doesnt kick goals at Casey and cant get a game in the AFL

McKenzie - slow and not an attacking midfielder. Poor skills

Joel Mc - poor skills and brain fades

Fitzpatrick - poor skillsw. Good athlete but is he a good footballer

Dunn - midfielder, tagger or KP

Bennell - doesnt know how to get the pill

Im sick of a midfield that has over sized slow players with bad skills. Bate and Dunn are ovewrsized players who were recruited as KPP. Now we train them to be midfielders. They are not Goodes (obviously)

Im sick of our KPP being undersized 192cm players playing against gorillas. Rivers, Garland. Frawley in only 193cm.

Get rid of the fringe players and recruit better fringe player. Use low picks to trade, or off load the dead wood ive named. We need to over haul our list to get a better balance.

I wouldn't mind a look at Nick Suban. Had a great year 2 or 3 years ago before breaking his leg.

Not quite sure what's going on but now he's a fringe player - from Victoria so worth a look if he's not on Ross Lyon's radar

Sorry to bump, but there's no chance McKenzie is a fringe player. Would have to be one of the first picked every week.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
