I am of the opinion that Grimes should be kept as captain and Trengrove made vice captain. To put Jonesy in as captain would shatter morale in the playing group when you consider how the old leaders were handled.

You haven't seen enough leadership qualities in Trengove?

All us supporters can really go by are his media interviews and his on-field performances.

Does Jack lead by example? Is he courageous? Does he speak well in front of the media?

He more than excels at all of the above.

His media performances are lack-lustre, unenthused and slow.

His on field performances leave little to be desired - let alone looked up to!

Whatever the case, maybe he can improve on his leadership down at Casey!

All that tells me is that Crowley must've done a good job!

How about we change the captaincy every month according to who the best player was, just like McDonalds do with their employees?

Seriously, just let it go about Jones or whoever else being captain. We have captains. They have picked to grow into the role over the long term.

End of discussion.

Amen to that......

Jones would have been an excellent choice to partner either of the little Jacks in 2012, but what is done is done and he can now concentrate on sourcing the perfect wave and becoming an elite mid in 2013..

True, plus he leads anyway......

Cheers mate, been out of sorts for a while now, but things are finally getting a little better......

How about we just have jones made captain nextyear along side Trengove and Grimes.

I would have no problem if Mark Neeld said Jones should be Captain also.

Sydney have 2 or 3 captains and there going o.k.

As for talk of taking the title from Trengove thats just crap.

The kid is very much who the players voted to lead them and will be like a fine wine as captain.

He will just get better with age.

Lets make Jones captain next year and then strip him of it the next .

Eventually we could have the whole playing group resent us .

Because our captains this year have really lead by the front,

reflects our superb win/loss record for the year, definately dont change anything,

we are ticking along so well.

You created this thread/poll, the results conclusively show that almost 4 -1 are against the idea, so why not bow to popular opinion and concede - why put up a poll in the first place if you refuse to accept the result?

You lay the blame for only winning two games on the Captains.

Do you think the outcome would have been different if Jones was Skipper?

Your argument is flawed.

Cale Morton will not be happy if Jones gets the nod ahead of him .

BUMP..

And... Vote up ladies!

Im expecting Neeld to man up here and Jones to be appointed captain of 2013..

Let him focus on being the best midfielder he can be. Don't stop what's been so good.

Grimes and Trengove have done a great job imo, and should keep it for at least another year.

lol you maybe waiting a while. The 2 jacks should and will be co captains again in 2013, jones will continue to improve and be in the leadership group. Leadership is both on and off field and jones may not want even want the captaincy and just be happy to focus on improving his game even more

Why is every done to death poll and worn our record being bumped?

Seriously can we look ahead rather than back.

2 Jacks as captain, Umm, I think its fair to say Trengove wont be captain..

Good kid though, Grimes has at least flown the flag though..

But, Jones is our leader going forward, hence the thread.

I expect Neeld to appoint Jones captain for 2013.

The only change I can possibly see is Grimes being made full captain and Trenners VC, perhaps Jones Co-VC. Grimes has had an excellent second half of the year, remembering how much footy he has missed its not surprising he started slowly. I expect he'll finish 2nd to Jones in the B&F.

Grimes is a good skipper and may become a great one. He demonstrates it onfield, behind the scenes, in public at functions and with the media. Perhaps move Trengove to vice-captain but I rekon that is a backward step.

please note: the best footballer, the toughest nut, is NOT ALWAYS THE BEST CAPTAIN. Brereton, Buddha Hocking, Merv Neagle, the Scott brothers at the Lions; - the list goes on.

Jones is a great player but if you listen to him speak, or listen to other players speak about him, you get the feeling he is respected as a player more than a leader.

The difference in Jones leading on-field aswell as off:)

I rate Trengove like the rest of you, I just havent seen leadership qualities in him.

At least with Jack Grimes, if he is ever down on form - he is never down on courage,

he leads like Nathan and should be vice captain next year.

You haven't seen it?

So, the footy dept is wrong because you can't see it?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
