Can anyone give an update as to where Lawrence is at. Would appear about to be delisted if he can't even play in casey firsts.

yep i think he is about gone at years end. hasn't really shown he can kick goals when playing in the pocket. applies pressure but doesn't hurt the score board. i wouldn't mind if melbourne snagged a smokey forward pocket from NT somewhere with our rookie pick.

I go and watch him every week mate, has got all the goods indeed, wants another crack at AFL level - very keen he is.

Would definetley be a worthy late pick as a small forward for sure.

He's a star.

I don't watch Casey games but if as you say Lawrence struggles to get the scoreboard ticking at that level, then he's toast at year's end.

i think he only kicked 1 on the weekend for casey's development squard and only had 12 disposals.. doesn't excite ya much does it..

Kelvin Lawrence: - Kicks 5, Handballs 7, Tackles 5, Goals 1

Kelvin kicked a goal, chased and worked hard defensively.

first and foremost Neeld wants player who work hard defensively, as he says the rest will come on top of that, so that seems to be the focus for Kel Lawrence, for those who can't get to training, Leigh Brown really drives him during the drills, Neil Craig is in his ear as well......

what is the hurry...he is still only 19 not 20 til October, he is on the rookie list, could be anything, and everything

I don't really understand the love that some people have for this guy. Anyone who is playing VFL reserves half way through their second year is never going to amount to anything.

Retaining duds like Newton, (Luke) Williams and Maric for multiple years has hurt us badly in the past. This club needs to keep turning over the bottom third of its list until it unearths a few decent players.

You do realise that you are replying in a 10 post thread in which there are more posters effusing the virtues another player than Lawrence himself?

I say go after Leroy Jetta at the end of the year. He's on track for 30 goals this year, is young, fast, averages 4 tackles a game, a couple of goal assists, and with Alwyn Davey in good form and salary cap pressure might just be squeezed out if we'd offer a late first round or early second round pick.

Lawrence is a rookie. He has been on our rookie list for 18 months and is runing around in the Casey reserves.

Some rookies make it, some turn out to be stars, most of them never play a senior game which is where Kel is at. We have given him an opportunity without him over-staying his welcome. It didn't work.

Next.

So in other words no one has any idea whether he can play or not.

Delist, if he was much chop he wouldve made them pick him - and not for Casey, for Melbourne.

We have been pathetic most the year, this bloke hasnt pushed himself, catcha Kel.

Im sure he can play, as most indigenous kids can play - and very well.

You can have all the talent in the world, but if you lack work ethic, have the wrong attitude, etc,

then more often than not, you do not make it, simple as that.

Could be one of many things, but blokes like Magner make the Demons pick him through doing all the right

things, having an insane work ethic, the right attitude and doing everything possible to play for the Melbourne Football club.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
