Koby Stevens

Koby Stevens would walk into our midfield. He can run and deliver the footy to AFL standards. Tough at it.

Really I have seen him play a lot live and he can do these things sometimes when he has time under pressure he turns the ball over a lot and his disposal efficiency is affected.

He is tough and runs hard that bit is correct

Koby has looked the goods in his few appearances and WC wanted to hang onto him.

Great skills and leadership, could be someone to grab.

Yeah i wouldnt move the earth to get him, but if he was keen and WCE accepted a trade like Bennell or Petterd for him i think we should go for it.

bugger...couldve swapped Lawrence for him B) :)

Not sure Petterd would be to popular at Meth Coast after the incident a couple of years ago with McGinnity and the slur against Ricky's mother

Very suspicious that Stevens announces he wants out the day Wellingham goes to WA ..... go get'em Demons. surely if he wants more opportunities we must be on his radar.

why not? he's not getting a gig in WA so we could bring him over for cheap. Gotta be better than what we've got atm...

Beware bummers &

Why is he not getting a game?

There must be some reasons.

Anyone from WA on here may have heard..

Pace, sounds like WYL. If he is on the slow side then his main forte should be inside/under & gut run spread.

So he may not yet be big & strong enough & have enough engine yet, to force his way into that side. The eagles may have had him earmarked to replace an aging Kerr.

I mentioned in another thread that maybe Petterd for Stevens could work? Even if it was through a three way deal that maybe saw Petterd to Brisbane and a third round pick to West Coast that sends Stevens our way. We need another inside mid aswell as an outside mid.

Stevens is the moneyball type inside mid we should target if we can't get Boak.

David MacKay from Adelaide should be the outside mid we should target.

What can you think of from Melbourne clubs who are interested in Stevens, have they to offer?

Bummers, Blues, Us, Pies, Tiges, Saints, Doggies, Cats will all be interested IMO.

Don't forget we have pick 3 I. The pre season draft this is ideal player for this pick. We can be nice to wce and offer our third round pick but if we convince him to come to us we will get him for close to nothing

If fitness is his only knock then we should definitely make a play for him.

With Misson and co this is one area of his game which seems hard to stuff up...although the weapon did a good job and Essendon lol

There's always a catch.

Straight swap, Morton for Stevens??

You wouldn't think so. Got a feeling the WC have had their fill of Mortons and the Morton family over the years.

That was the old Morton family, surely we can convince them to take Cale now he is part of the premiership winning Morton family.

Mortan has the potential to be a really good player, his form over the last few years has just been the issue. Hopefully he will take a leaf out of his brothers book and do something positive about it. He could be a great wingman if he can get his attitude and fitness right.

Maybe the influence of the Swans, whilst away from his family has helped that Morton.

Word is (well on facebook) that we are chasing Stevens HARD and that he is a major target/priority.

Most players who make it to the AFL have the potential to be really good players what separates the ones that do from the ones that don't is above the shoulders. A player of Morton's build won't make it without fierce determination and hunger - suffice to say Cale doesn't have what it takes.

Are there any updates on KS's preferred destination yet? Or are we waiting for the trade window to open?

"WEST COAST’S Koby Stevens is set to be involved in a deal that nets Sharrod Wellingham for the Eagles. Stevens, who wants to return to Victoria, may well find himself at the Pies as part of a package that includes a second round draft pick."

Courtesy of Trade Whispers.

As we need midfielders most importantly ,it would be nice to offer up Martin to pies wellingham to west coast and Stevens to us

Thanks BH.

Yeah it'd be nice to be able to get involved in some of these bigger trades in the hope of dislodging a few mids.

martin for wellingham would be a good deal for us, arguably better than for the pies, but stevens for martin seems a bit of a swing back the other way.

Martin is an agile, speedy athletic big man and there arent too many of those in the league.

Stevens seems more like a rohan bail 2.0, same basic talent but with better disposal. maybe upgrade our early 4th rnd pick for one of either teams late 3rd round picks. there would only been half a dozen picks difference but it might be the difference between getting swan or one of those othet late picks noone can remember

Koby Stevens is a must get target. We can offer a 3-yr deal, plus a regular game if he measures up. He has the strength, the tackling, the desire ...and there is no waiting line for our midfield.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
