Tom Harley's comments last night

Watching the replay of last nights game, Tom Harley made the comment in the last quarter that Melbourne's problems are not so much player related but that we need organisational change. Very unusual for a commentator to say that during a game and clearly pointing the finger at those higher up.

Well we have changed the coaches and perhaps Neeld has been given the poison chalice.

What else does he mean? The board or Schwab and Co?

Basically he is implying we are stuffed unless those at higher levels are removed. I tend to agree and some kind of mutiny is still going on..

Does anyone really think that the CEO to the cleaning lady have anything to do with our on field performances this year? We thought Bailey was the problem but it is dead set obvious apart from a select few it's our players who are to blame.

Funny how whenever people critique the club, the person is a "spud", or a "hack".

He's not wrong. None of it's working right now, and maybe change is needed.

The admin is trying to make changes though, the increase expenditure in the footy department proves it. Also remember that we've never been able to afford massive dollars spent in that area, it's only now that we have that luxury and who is responsible for that?

I'm not an expert in the science of modern fitness (actually rank amateur would be an accurate description) but I've heard from various sources that a fitness program can take several seasons to develop and improve players. Our fitness has been a problem for a long time and we've been far behind the better clubs. I believe that we were so far behind the rest of the competition that there was no quick fix for Neeld.

This discussion has been done to death in about 50 different threads. We're all aware there has been a problem in the past and it is (hopefully) in the process of being fixed. A club's culture doesn't change overnight, it takes time.

Connolly was moved sideways instead of being removed. Schwab was sacked until the final siren of 186 and the coach went instead.

Sounds as though there are poisonous elements within the organisation that have been saved during the recent "organisational change"

Spot on. Do we need a thread for every AFL theorist? There are +500 journos reporting on AFL so pehaps we can have a separate board similar to the locker Room with each commentators rationale for why we're crap?
