Jusy watched the first quarter and a half on fox. I am absolutely disgusted by the standard of umpiring against Melbourne FC. It's something that really needs to be addresse as it append every game.

In the first quarter twice Geelong players dropped (incorrectly disposed) of the ball in the Melbourne first half and I reckon at least one cost us a goal basic umpiring error.

In the second quarter Hawkins was on the ground in the goal square and whilst being tackeled handed the ball to stokes I think it was. I am pretty sure this too is incorrect disposal. It is really sh!t.

Again, it doesn't cost is the game but it must disheartening for the player to continuly lay good tackles and not be rewarded. Get your act into gear AFL.

On a positive note. Mitch Clark is excellent but why is he roving the pack in out forward half? Well done but I mean where is the rest I em!

Sorry, but I really don't go for this umpiring whinge. Yes, there are bad decisions that go against us, but I'm certain that if you were an opposition supporter, you would have almost exactly the same complaints. One reason we get so many frees paid against us is because we are always behind the man and rarely in a position to warrant a free kick.

Posted

Yeah, umpires are bad, but it seems like a pretty trivial thing to complain about when your team is down by 9 goals.

Think we had the 19th man in the last and made no diffirence. Win the contested footy and keep possession and you will win games with or without umpires as all good teams do!

Didn't notice the umpires once today. Sure, the free against Clark on half time was soft, but besides that couldnt see an issue with it.

Excuses are for losers.

For those taking the moral high ground... I have seen so many instances of home crowd umpiring against no name MFC players over 50 years that to say it doesn't exist is an example of Blind Faith in the system. There have been many seasons where the MFC have been awarded significantly less free kicks than opponents. However, for me it is where you get them... and when it happens. We should keep statistics about every umpire and where the free is paid. The easiest way to corrupt an AFL game is through the umpire but we have a culture that expects us to take a loss on the chin. Watch today's free against Clark over and over and ask yourself what the umpire thought he saw. I remember some infamous turn arounds against MFC in the final Qtr that were adjudicated by an umpire that supported our opposition as a kid! I have no faith in the umpires. I have no faith in the umpires advisors... and I have no faith in the advisors of ther advisors (think Jack Trengove sling tackle!). MFC supporters need to become more analytical of where decisions happen... I challenge you to find the last game where MFC had more forward 50 frees than the opposition.

Maybe if we played in front, we might be able to say that one day. With very few exceptions, we get freed through our own poor efforts. Why would anyone want to be an umpire when they have to put up with this kind of hysteria?

I have been an umpire. I kept it simple... Don't guess, don't be over technical, and don't be caught up in a teams momentum. Oh yes, there's also that little thing about not letting the home teams supporters scare you!

Our top story tonight: Umpires rig footy games. In other news, man never walked on the moon, Bush mastermined 9/11 and JFK was murdered by the mob.

You were an umpire at AFL level with the pressure of 10's of thousands of supporters screaming at you and the pace of the game at the top level to contend with?

Umpires have rigged games. There are some unaswered questions about 9/11 and JFK was murdered with some assistance by people in positions of power. Now which of those contentions do you want to debate? Do you understand the notion of Blind faith?

And do I need to repeat my question to you?

Do you understand the notion of latching on to niche ideas and conspiracy theories in order to feel intellectually superior to your contemporaries?

You just made me feel intellectually superior to you. Thanks... now what about the debate? We can take it off the game thread if you like.

There's nothing worse than thinking you're smart when you're not. What "debate"? The one about how umpires intentionally rig games. I really don't think that happens.

"Oh yes, there's also that little thing about not letting the home teams supporters scare you!"

Were you ever concerned that once they got beyond the point of honking their horns, they might actually drive their cars onto the field of play?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
