Bad Melbourne Supporters

It was the wild-eyed senior citizens on the boundry line that swore like sailors when I went to the footy as a kid.

Grandmothers can be like that.

All the analysis is doing my head in as well, it is simple.......there are boorish idiots everywhere in life, they love the sound of their own voice.....they have probably failed at everything they have tried.....we should pity them.....or tell them to shut up..

This bit from Trident lighttened it up and made me laugh.......here is a suggestion go to a Casey game vs Port Melb if you get the chance, at Port's home ground....sit behind what looks like two middle aged sisters from the front of knitting pattern packet....one has a shoppiing trolley from which she produces a never endling supply of home made food all day...hair permed to within a inch of it's life...they are Port supporters...

But...they spend the two hours abusing everybody and everything...and the language is 'colourful' to say the least.....

.Jack Trengove and Luke Tapscott had the pleasure of walking past them at the end of the game we went to and were on the end of a gobful each...and they were only watching the game!!!!!!

It's not too much to ask, to mind your language in public, or anywhere really.... But that doesn't stop people being angry & disappointed & venting those feelings.In fact healthy to get it off the chest, release the stress, so as not to have a coronary as it where.

What you do in your bedroom Jungle Jim is up to you. What others do is they're domain.  Missionary is OK I guess, sometimes Jungle, but swinging from the vines, well, theres 'ya' ticket.

Now, back on track, conservative MCC goer 'ey', gets angry at those around him, who are already angry... have you thought about misplaced frustrations Jim, that maybe your just as frustrated at the players, but turn it on supporters you find a dislike for in YOUR Domain, instead... taking the high moral ground?

I hear much worse language on Public transport. It seems very modern to use F's and c's. I also hear school children, males and females, using bad a language. I find it offensive but its now the norm I'm very sorry to say.On the matter of abusing our players, I dont believe in using bad lanuage but I do believe venting frustration within limits are a part of football as we know it. The players don't hear most of it and probably dont really care if they are putting in and involved in the game

but don't stand anywhere near the race unless you like getting drenched in spit when the visiting team use the race

They'd be the same ones that, when they weren't at the footy, would be in the front row at Festival Hall on a Sunday, going at Killer Kowolski, Skull Murphy, Bruiser Bernard et al, with their handbags swinging.

Can remember as a kid my 1st trip to Victoria park.

Walking to the turnstyles with the old man and theres a row of retarded folk in black&white wheelchairs.

"F%^& OFF MELBOURNE !" was our greeting from them .

Yep, & it keeps people involved in the game, & it keeps things honest. Right or Wrong, those people are saying what they truly Believe. That is honesty.

And it helps people to keep the heads on straight.

Nothing annoys me more than supporters who get upset when people make negative comments.

I never abuse our players and never will, but I get annoyed when we do stupid things and I express that frustration. I'm an emotional footy supporter and I make no apologies for that.

I don't swear (loudly enough for anyone to hear anyway ), and I will stand and cheer everything good that we do, so if me expressing my emotions annoys people then they can stay at home.

If you want to watch in silence watch it on TV. Otherwise harden up. Our players hear worse from our coaches everyday.

I don't think much has changed in terms of supporters having digs at players mistakes at games in all my time going to the footy. If anything, there's more of it.

I'd also say more people these days drink at the footy and this may add to some more aggression and disgust.

Attendances are up, memberships are up and it's catered for more of a social outing.

There's no doubt in my mind that frustration levels of many supporters regarding the clubs form on field in recent years is contributing to much of the aggression. They want to see results and their patience is wearing thin.

I know people outside looking in think that's completely understandable.

ahhhhhhh the days of Windy Hill & Victoria Park are long gone - The AFL moved forward for a reason.

Cant forget the little old ladies who always took the only fence seats at the Kennel in front of the Melbourne supporters.

They contributed to the coarse language that was expelled in frustration and came up with the best line I can personally recount.

The Melbourne crowd were silenced when these venerable old ladies did the morecombe and wise routine one stating to the other

It wasnt Boom Boom but it did cause a reappraisal of the relationship as the Melbourne fans realised the truth of the statement The ladies had pies and drinks delivered all day and always thanked the boys for their service.

It was just one of many great days at the footy. T

This thread and most of the comments in Dland rekindles those feelings and makes theentertainment even more compelling

I am still waiting for some glory but get plenty of enjoyment from the associationship (if thats a word)
