Been saying this since the Bailey days!

According to the article on the mfc website he is relishing it and hopes he can stay there.

Really good to see him have such an influence the onyl thing I'd say about the Quale article is I would have thought Neeld, another line coach would have known about Garls?all players playing history. Lets hope it is able to be something for the long term.

Surely he was saying it in a little bit of jest

I think he will stay there, he can contest well and he seems to hve a bit of flare like a forward.

Garlo, just one of those laid back easy going funny guys you have around most fc's, he comes across that way to me anyway, we had a budgie at my club, silky smooth he was too. Col was very effective up fwd, was probably practising his goalkicking this morning.

Sellar essentially came in for Chip. So Chip will most likely come in for Sellar.

Need them both with Cloke and Dawes this week. Those guys are too big for Riv and Garlo

My view is, and will remain until our backline doesn't have to deal with Fitzroy level I50s, they are doing fine.

We know what Frawley can do down there, we know what Garland can do down there - let's keep them there.

Get Grimes into the middle though...

If I could defend my position here - I wrote this before I knew McDonald will be the player he'll be. And while that doesn't wash for last night due to Frawley being out and Garland being needed in the backline still, I will say it probably helped Neeld make the decision to move Garland - he knew McDonald, Rivers, and MacDonald could handle varying sizes of forwards.

I will take some props for the Grimes comment though!

Let's keep both captains in the guts.

Garland showed what a versatile player he is last night picking up Milne and I have no doubt he could do well forward or even in the middle. I guess it's going to depend on who comes through over the next couple of years with Cook, Sheahan, Davis and Fitz along with what we do with Martin. Not forgetting Blease, Strauss, Taggert, Tynan, Tapscott and Bennell.

At the moment he probably needs to stay back but I'm not against the idea of him being able to swing forward or to even run as a defensive forward against a Fisher/Murphy type.

With the strucures these days you don't see coaches as willing to make the big match winning move during a game anymore. Silvagni to FF, Hunter back to forward. The sub seems the only move, pity.

Grimes to the middle, yep again depending on who comes through.

I like your thoughts re a swinging forward to nullify the likes of Fisher etc. but I have been saying for year's now, he is an ideal winger as well as I have been saying Grimes should play in the guts.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
