Geelong & Hawthorn Have A Weakness Can We Exploit Come Trade Time

As difficult as it is to admit it with him approaching the 30 mark, & us needing to fast track the development of Spencer, Gawn & Fitzy. The other spot for a ruck in the seniors could be helpful if Martin holds one versatile spot & one at a time we get games into the others...

With both Martin & the Russian we holding back our young rucks development.

He may like to look to further his options.

Martin is a 2nd Ruck which we need.... Our young boys, Spencer & Gawn both play like main Rucks, & both need games to grow... Fitz can develop into a 2nd ruck at first,,, playing deep forward to get some experience.

He, may well also turn into a 1st Ruck option, down the track.

Exactly. Once these guys are fit, we need to get games into them.

The only real advantage Jamar has is a (historical) good communication and clearance pairing with Moloney.

We are in no position to lose Jamar.

You want to put the number 1 ruckman role on Martin's head? After one good season as a backup ruckman? No way.

Can't rely on Spencil, Gawn or Fitzy. Sellar isn't a footballer's boot stud and if Clark gets moved to the ruck I will throw a temper tantrum!

If free spaces and salary cap room is what you want- well Green, Davey and Macdonald say "howdy do!"

I said nothing of the sort, to put the number 1 ruckmans role on Martins head - you did.

I think it would be foolish to try and match an offer to keep Jamar.

Bit harsh on Sellar. He's shown something this year so far and comparatively speaking to most of the team, it's not as bad as you allude to.

My mistake, it osunded like that was what you were alluding to.

I don't think we even have the option of matching an offer for Jamar. He is an unrestricted FA I think- if he wants to go we can't do anything about that and we will get measly compo for him. But it sounds like he doesn't want to go so non-issue. I think we need him until someone else is ready to step up and the timing might be right that someone else might be ready when Jamar is about to retire anyway.

What has Sellar shown? I must have missed it.

Old 55, how the hell can you be a moderator when you insist in abusing and bating Dr Who and at the same time telling us that you want a quality board. Resign or lift you're game. Moderator does not = obnoxious know all.

Try telling that to Rhino...

He has shown that he's more than a foootballers 'boot-stud'.

What's this crap - 'Dr, your forum future is in your own hands - put up or shut up - answer the question or seal your own fate ...'

How about you just moderate.

I am going in to bat for Old here.

The Dr started a thread about trading MFC players and refuses to name trades or MFC players!

Old was not a mod up until this year when he VOLUNTEERED (and remember all the mods are MFC loving volunteers) to keep the 'Players' board on the straight and narrow as other mods didn't think it would work.

So you can thank Old for that forum too (and Andy - Demonland - of course).

Mods are just like us and challenging other posters is well within their rights.

And you can't troll/bait someone by implying they get to the point of their own thread...

if Sydney, West Coast, Carlton & Essendon get up you are laughing.

But if Geelong, Hawthorn & Collingwood get up you may struggle - but they all cant get up. 2 out of 3 aint bad. These are the lists I would focus in on with a fine tooth comb.

Re our ruckman - "probably" the ruckman I was going to give the last 6-8 games of the year . The other ones I would put in the paddock for a spell & bring them back in the "spring". Sorry no names no pack drills it is a public forum.

I'd hold on to all our ruck stocks, Jamar most of all.

They take time and none have seriously challenged the Russian for the No# 1 position yet. The issue is then how do we fend off possible interest from a flag contending club with ruck issues and not stuff up our player payment balance/strategy? or maximise the return?

Everyone has off days.

Seaby would have been playing more for a regular spot in the team with the Mummy out.

Yip for sure - but when the Swans "second" ruckman smashes you so convincingly you have to raise an eyebrow or two. Geez imagine if Mummy was there in the finals it could be a "blood bath" - Time will tell. I'm only pencilling them back in at this stage.

Cheers

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
