  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm not a big interweb user, but I've never seen so many people use the word 'depressed' in a forum until this site, this year.

Sorry to nit-pick bj, but I think the word is 'deepressed'.

At this point in time we are the worst team in the competition in my view. The Bulldogs aren't great but neither are Brisbane or Richmond. Bulldogs by 30 to 45 points for me.

And that is the hardest thing to take from my point of view, I was prepared to put up with the pain as long as we came out the other side with a good playing list but it is in fact worse now than it was in 2007. We have gone through a 5 year rebuild and acheived nothing.

Our recruiters should hang their heads in shame, some of the Phantom drafters on Big Footy would have done a better job.

Hmm i think we will smash the bulldogs Its what we have done for the last 4 years (fire when everyone thought we had no bullets left) then lament for the next month which is also what we do too many players in our list are NOT up to AFL standard Neeld will want to keep his job and get a broom , a very big one Bailey failed miserably to acknowledge we even had a broom Bailey looked at age and not on impact gong forward (Junior) We should have picked up Dylan Grimes when we had the chance At least the kid has a red hot go

DB was unlucky to be there when the concessions were in place for GWS and GC. Trading or clearing out the list wasn't a realistic option.

You have described my feeling perfectly RobbieF

Thank God I am leaving the country next week, normally I would be straight onto the internet to get the scores

Not this time it will be great to be blissfully ignorant

I have seen a lot of tragedy in my life The MFC is not one. Sure we are not having a lot of good times at the moment but lets get real about where this sits in the whole meaning of life.

From what I see written on this site beggers belief. If I wake up in the morning I consider it a good day. If my health remains good, I consider it a good day. If I can comunicate with my kids and enjoy time with them it's a great day. If the MFC lose ...well it's disappointing but the sun still comes up and you just get on with it until the next week....year....decade...

If people want to change the MFC... well I sugest you do something about it, if not then control your vitrol on web sites

I'll be there on Sunday for the tribute to Jimmy, and I will be hopeful of a good result, although I will be tipping a Bulldog win. As always I will stay until the final siren, whatever the score.

I am forever hopeful of a turn-around and will continue to expect it each week. I have watched all our games live until the final siren (Torquay makes it hard to make every game) looking for glimpses of potential or a change in our fortunes.

As soon as the siren goes though, the TV is off. I "cope" with the results by moving on as fast as I can. On Saturday I headed to the beach with the wife and kids and very quickly forgot about the result. I stay away from the papers, forums and footy shows until about mid week when the focus moves to the coming games. I know we played bad, so i don't need to hear or read about it from the so called experts.

Perhaps being a Melbourne supporter has made me think about this a lot more than others, but I decided long ago to resist allowing football to affect my moods and self worth as much as can. I chose Melbourne as a 4 or 5 year old kid, therefore it wasn't an informed or logical choice, and yet I will never change. I can do so very little in the overall scheme of things to contribute to our success or failures, so I therefore don't take the credit or blame for our results. A win makes me feel good, for a while, just liek watching an uplifting movie. A bas loss make me feel bad, also just for a while. Football is a uncontrollable part of my life so it doesn't make sense to invest too much emotion in it. I endevour to invest my emotions in the things I have some aspect of control - relationships mainly.

I actually think we were worse in 2008. And with even less to look forward to then as we still had too many Daniher-era leftovers, some who had been good but past their prime and others who weren't that good and held onto for too long. I therefore think that as bad as we are (and we definitely are) the turnaround should this time be quicker. In 2008 there was no young talent of significant note. Now we have Watts, Trengove, Grimes and others.

I suspect we feel worse now because our initial expectations were higher in the lead up to the season. And if we feel this bad, imagine how St KIilda supporters felt in the 1980s and Richmond supporters for most of the last 30 years.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
