Got rid of Malthouse too early

Just want to get in first. C'wood have been in doldrums since late last year, not a patch on their pre-Buckley-conjecture era. The fallout may be spectacular.

At least it might take the heat off us for a bit, but a win tomorrow would be a better way.

Go dees....

Agree cant stand Buckley, Collingwood or for that matter Carlton...

Can't they both lose?

The other thing I'm taking heart in is the fact that this is putting the Toigs performance last week into perspective... they appeared to perform well against the Pies last week, but now it would seem that maybe the Pies are just not as good as we thought... and don't forget we beat the Pies in the pre-season, which probably says more about them now, than it does us - the writing was on the wall.

Malthouse and his petulance had expired their welcome at Collingwood.

His talent that he won the flag with is starting to age and they are struggling as they become the hunted.

The demise started last year......under Malthouse.

Buckley just inherited what was there when MM left.

Bruce is crapping on that Carlton are flag favourites...I will have Hawthorn and Geelong, and probably even West Coast before them. They have beaten Richmond, Brisbane and a very ordinary looking Pies outfit.

The look on Joffa's face when he was in shot five minutes before the end of the third... priceless!! (and MM is probably having a quiet chuckle to himself about now)

You have to admit though that Carlton'd footskills are excellent

What a difference it makes to those down the field

Still disappointed Pendles didn't come over, have so much respect for that guy although being given the run around by Carrazzo and the A-grade ruckwork from Kruezer. Carlton are looking really fkn good.

Their midfield's not looking the same without Neeld watching over it hey?

With a fit Waite and Jamison Carlton a much better side than last year. Definite flag chance. On a par with those other three sides.

I am definitely not doubting they are a chance. I just wouldn't have them favourites yet. Their midfield is looking absolutely top notch, and if Murphy keeps this up he will win all the individual awards going this year (bar Coleman obviously).

How's Eddies succession plan going?

If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it.

Eddie retired a brilliant military mind far too early.

Sleep well Ed. it was your idea.

This is destroying my dream team by the way.

I have Pendles, but my opponent has him as Captain. I'm happy to take the hit this week if it means my enemy's captain is out of the equation.

Haha, I'll be shattered if I lose first round thanks to Captain Pendles.

Collingwood are passé. What irks me now is Carlton. They look awesome. How come they get the best out of Betts, Yarram and Garlett, and we got Davey, Bennell, Jetta and Jurrah? Any chance for a swap and maybe throw in Morton as an incentive?

Because Betts, Yarran and Garlett are hungry, but Davey and Bennell are not. Jurrah's going through some tough times and Jetta's injured, so the jury's still out on them.

Chook, I think you're being very generous to Jurrah and Bennell to say the jury's out. Hope you're wrong.

I don't think Buckley is really coaching Collingwood. In the same way Hird isn't coaching Essendon.

They're just faces, puppets, to put on the front stage while a team of assistant coaches do the actual coaching backstage.

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
