Yeah, he's got a bit to go though.

He's more like 'Jill' than 'Jack', ATMO.

Why is it that I have a problem with articles from this source? A fairy floss fluff piece is about what I expect from SportsNewsFirst whose reputation precedes it.

I prefer to see players playing great football during the season to being informed how they're training the house down in December. Every AFL club has players doing that at this time of year.

Gee, if the only 'Jills' you know have that much facial hair ...

Interesting the quote from Brown that Jack is a KPP especially as there has been speculation here and elsewhere that he may be used as a winger.

But as the previous poster has suggested, training the house down in preseason doesn't always translate into season success: that said however a bulked up, fit and fired up JW is still an exciting thought.

HaHaHa, Lets just say he's proven nothin' yet & has a Looong Ways to go before he's playing real AFL footy level.

It was nice to see his 'have a go' attitude which turned up after about Rnd 5, or 6ish... but that only showed us he wants to try.

Noe it's time for him to start morphing into manhood.

Like Daisy Williams (Thomas) did last Year.

Master Watts can do it as well, eventually. It may as well be this summer. He can take a Leaf from Trenners book. Theres a start for him.

Re the Facial Hair, I was born with more Bum fluff that he has on his upper lip.

And my Granny has more stubble. B)

Can't argue with his line coach saying he's been training well..

Brown has a hard job next year IMO.

He obviously needs to implement a structure that accommodates Clark, Watts, Jurrah with Martin and possibly Jamar rotating through, but he has no obvious small forward (perhaps Davey) and a lot of mid size target type forwards to also use in an effective way: Howe, Petterd, Green etc.

In short, it seems to me that he has a lot of potential targets, though no crumbers.

Just saw the thread about Davey. Perhaps he will be the small forward Brown needs. Is he training with the forward group?

Also, anyone able to give an update on how Lawrence is coming on? Could he play an effective role in a big forward line at AFL level in 2012?

Reckon you've got the wrong bloke. Daisy Williams morphed into manhood over 30 years ago.

Exactly

Your Right,,, Williams was a great little player. I thought up the wrong name.

Daisy Thomas...of course.

Glad you sorted out the right Daisy there dee-luded :)

If he's deadset focused on becoming bigger, faster and stronger then that is great stuff. Undoubtedly has talent to burn but he has come across as somewhat casual in his approach previously.

Who were Collingwoods small forwards last year?

Geelong's?

This idea that you need a specific crumber is misguided.

You need all players working to apply defensive pressure to cause turnover and in turn scoring opportunities.

Every player can be a crumber.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
