• I'm not hearing much news from the Scorps insofar as new recruits is concerned.

• Families in Casey are invited to the 2011 Casey Demons Christmas Party at Casey Fields, Cranbourne East on Wednesday, December 14 from 4pm to meet and greet the players and coaches for next year.

Did someone morph Brett Lovett and Andy Lovell?

Cripes, my iPhone spellcheck surely didn't cause that so I plead guilty to committing a human error.

Please accept my apology Mr. Lovett!

It seems at this stage that Casey haven't replaced any of the name players who have left the club since the end of the season - Brendan Fevola, Tim Mohr, Michael Stockdale etc. I believe that James Wall and Rian McGough have also left the club and it appears as if Scorps might be relying on the new MFC listed players and some locals to provide the new blood.

* clash with MFC game

EDIT: 2012 AFLV Development League ("DL") fixture has been added.

Great news with the lack of destabilising signings. I think with Couch and Magner in the midfield and Williams, Cook, Sellar and Davis making up the spine that Casey should focus on getting some (as close to) top quality youth in because they could really develop some half forwards and half backs who could go the next level.

The video shows some high quality training with some of the lowest quality filming ever done. They need a new camera, and to borrow any half decent film and media student to put together a semi reasonable video. Also the song is very very ...

Much appreciated Jordie_tackles.

I sense that the MFC influence at Casey will be much stronger this year after the disagreements last year concerning the recruiting to Casey of Fevola.

I still think you need some quality VFL type players on your list to ensure consistency within your team.

I suspect the Scorpions are going to do it tough next year, especially if there are are injuries in the Demon ranks.

I wonder what's going on over there at the Casey Scorpions?

During the off season they appear to have lost a number of key players including James Wall who filled in as skipper over the time of Kyle Matthews' injuries, Brendan Fevola, Michael Stockdale, Tim Mohr drafted to Greater Western Sydney and a couple of others.

Wall and Stockdale have crossed to Williamstown and are already in training there.

Of more concern would be the fact that two gun players from Casey's main recruiting ground, the Gippsland Power have relocated to Melbourne and have also joined Williamstown. They are Maffra's Shaun Wyatt who was the Power's captain last year and Traralgon's Haydn Hector. Both were in the Vic Country Under 18 team and played games as 23rd players for the Scorpions.

It's all well and good to say that Casey will benefit from the new MFC recruits but you would wonder where the depth for the team in going to come from?

Risa is Michael Riseley. Brother of recent Olympic distance runner Jeff Riseley. No surprises he is smashing the time trials

Are we seeing the formation of the MFC seconds where winning in the VFL is not important?

Now all for the greater glory of the MFC and screw Casey

Happy New Year all - I'm back from an extended break and looking forward to the coming season.

The news from out at Casey is that there's very little news. No big name signings and any recruiting is likely to be from locals.

The reserves competition has been renamed the "AFLV Development League" and the fixture is now out for that competition.

There's still a month to go before the practice matches but for the time being its all quiet on the Casey front.

Good to see you back KC.

Has the MFC staged a Coup at Casey?

Seems to me that the MFC has demanded that Casey toe the line and they will be just the MFC seconds in 2012.

Training ground for juniors and players returning from injury.

They are beginning to look like Collingwood seconds more every day.

Or am I reading more into this than exists?

signed at my bloody home team.. bastard! except im a wang magpie this year! im not gunna hide the fact a chance of playing against the big fev this will be a great experience..!!

There's a team called the "Pigeons"?

WJ I had a holiday house in past days at Yarrawonga.

Meet a guy who was on the commitee of the club.

After I a number of meetings I plucked up the courage to ask about the "Pidgeons" name.

They play in Geelong colours and he had a few years previous made a presentation to the board on changing the name.

To the "cats"!

Said they fell upon him like a pack of rabid dogs.

Told him if the Pidgeons was not good enough for him he should move across the river to the Mulwala Lions ( lower league )

SO yes they are the Pidgeons.

Have been fairly successful over the years in the O&M league.

Williamstown are the Seagulls, as was Sandy Bay in the TFL.

So, nothing unusual about Pidgeons. Bill Lawry would certainly approve.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
