  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Think he was a magnificent drop-kick from memory. Thought that team would do better than they did ie Biffen, Dillon, Parke, Alves...

Yes, he was. His nickname was 'Bona' but we won't go there!

My God there are some old Bastards on this thread!

The really sad think is I remember all you are talking about.

Yes Prof, Denis Clark was good for a few years .

I think a knee injury took him out, probably the sort of injury theu fix now and have the guy playing again in 8 weeks.

Somethings have definately improved.

Some one mentioned Greg Parke he must have been the worst kick for goal the Dees have every had in the forward line ( and we have had some poor ones over the years )

I would hate to know the number of matches he kick 1 goal 6 and 4 out on the full.

He left the dees and went to the Dogs and then used kick 7 straight from 50 meters out against us.

How a hated him in those years.

Better stop I am starting to depress myself.

PS Anyone remember Spud Dullard?

PPS Gary Hardiman was my hero, played his heart out for the Dees when we were very ordinary

I went into the Inverloch Club Rooms there's a picture of B Lovett hanging on the wall, he played a bit of junior footy there, but I loved the fact they claimed him as their own.

What are you talking about? He was recruited from Inverloch before he went on to play for Melbourne. Of course they would claim him. Not much else has come out of Inverloch.

He still has family down there and incidently his sister (Garry Lyon's Ex-wife) have a house down in Inverloch. Garry often mentions that he frequents down in Inverloch.

The sad bit Deeoldfart is I have been around that long I remember them all Well most.

There are actually a lot of years that I wish I could forget.

But you are right as my wife keeps telling me " don't worry about another birthday it is a lot better than the alternative".

I think Spud Dullard kicked 3 goals with his first 3 kicks. He got his nickname from his old man who also played for the Dees. Greg Parke was a very good mark but a shithouse kick. He took 20+ marks in a game against Essendon in 1969. Gary Hardeman was a star. Started in 1967 on the half forward flank. Played there for a couple of seasons then moved to CHB. I think I'll start a new thread: "Worst important kick ever" I've already got the winner!

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
