Keith "Bluey" Truscott - Best & Fairest Night

Thinking of going to the B & F... worth going to, even if not part of a table?

I'm tipping Sully gets no votes.

On a separate note, how kick arse is the new site!

Seems kinda strange to me to clash with one of the Preliminary Finals. (Did we schedule it deliberatley, so our new Coach wouldn't be tempted to go to the match...? LOL)

I haven't been before, but will be there this Friday with a couple of other members of this site.

Prediction - Moloney easily from Jones, Sylvia, Martin, Watts, Trengove, McKenzie, Garland, Gysberts, and Frawley. The last nine in no particular order.

As an aside - I had trouble editing a post. Wouldn't do anything when I saved changes...

I don't know... I get the feeling it could go either way between Moloney and Jones - Jones has been Mr Consistent this year, while Moloney went through a very quiet patch mid-season. Too close to predict for mine (but then again, I'm usually wrong).

If you haven't been to a B&F before you don't know what you're missing.

It's always a sensational night (I've been the last 20 years or so).

I guarantee the hairs on your neck will stand on end when you hear Cam Schwab speak.

Unashamedly passionate, no notes, all from the heart.

Great night. Was scheduled for either early september or 2nd October depending on whether or not we were in the finals. Got a bit tricky when we were still in with a chance up until rd 23. In the end this Friday was the only date available. Not the best night to have it. Unfortunately I have a prior commitment that night and am unable to attend this year. Have a great night all that are going. I'll be checking here for updates.

My prediction is Moloney/Jones (can't really split them) followed by Watts, Martin, Trengove, Frawley, Sylvia, Gysberts, McKenzie and Garland. Times like these I wish I was in Melbourne. Would love to go. Have to start planning now to go to next year.

I will be there. My brother sponsors one of the players, and he would be taking his lovely partner, however she is a mad Hawk, and has to go to the game. So I get the call up!!!

Went last year and had a ball.

Had a good chat to a few players, but I felt a bit strange standing around in a line of 10 people waiting to chat to the players.

I am hoping that JT wins, I am a bit biased. However I think Jonesy may get it this year.

They do have a top 5 tipping comp on the night and you need to get them in order. I am not sure if anyone got them right last year.

i cant split moloney and jones but i reckon garland and watts will finish pretty high i thought hes pretty consistent all year also

Moloney/Frawley/Sylvia/Martin/Jones

Can I have long odds because there's no chance of that coming up.

There was a winner last year. It may be a tad harder this year.

I used to go when I lived in Melbourne many moons ago as Johnno was my fave player and he often featured in the count.

Now I would love to go but its a bit out of my budget at the mo when I have to add an airfare from the GC on top.

Hope you all have a ball and yes, I think Moloney will get it.. I would love it if we could get a video of his speech as it would be from the heart and quite spine chilling too..

Good luck to all players..

It's sure to be a strange atmosphere - genuinely bitter sweet with the gloom surrounding a poor season, a sacked coach and departing young star meeting the optimism generated by the appointment of a popular new coach all set against the backdrop of a seriously ailing and much loved president. The club is at a genuine crossroads (when hasn't it?) and the tone of the B & F will reflect this. Wish I could be there.

It's been an emotional roller coaster ride from the Cats game right up till now. I went last year and loved it, but couldn't get fired up for this one, with all the DB sacking stuff and TS circus. But I'm rapt with the recent changes. Still, it takes a while to get over old relationships, so I too definitely feel it would be strange & bitter sweet. I'd rather get along to the B&F again when the recent past is a memory rather than a still-healing scar.

Would love to get highlights throughout the night if any posters can oblige please. Any mention of Jimmy gets top priority.

Vice-president Don McLardy addresses the 950 Demon faithful. It's been a tough year with a lot of challenges. He takes a shot at Scully - we dealt with the situation with professionalism and integrity (implying GWS and those associated with Scully didn't). Don says Jim won't stand down as long as he can stand up. He's not the type to surrender. And with that, he introduces Jim to the stunned fans.

Jimmy simply continues to be inspirational.

Two players on crutches Austin Wonaeamirri and Lucas Cook. Of course, if a certain former player who departed a couple of weeks ago was here, then I reckon there's a chance he might need them as well. OK, let's move on!

The new coach is about to make his first public appearance.

"It's been a big week in my life."

"I'm going to keep doing things my way".

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
