Just in case anybody was sick of the Scully threads ...

Buddy has done his knee v Geelong, which (in my opinion) rules the Hawks out of 2011!

Terrible shame not only for Hawthorn but also for the game in general.

I was at the game tonight and he was playing well however he is increasingly becoming a show pony. I would still love him at the team he barracked for as a kid.

A cruel blow which will no doubt harm if not destroy Hawthorn's 2011.

The last quarter also produced a very puzzling marking decision when Trent West flew grabbed the ball and came all the way down to the ground with it but the ball bounced out of his hands as they hit the turf. Strangely enough it was paid a mark unlike last week when umpire Shmitthouse disallowed an identical mark to Jeremy Howe at the Adelaide Oval.

Strange indeed.

Terrible injury. Hate to see it.

On an unrelated note, noone ever talks about these games that Rioli plays . . .

And Steve Johnson is such a [censored], my god.

(And Selwood, Chapman, Kelly, Ottens, Taylor and Bartel are all better than any players on our list).

Rioli was reported a Missing Person to the Police after 1/4 time!!!

The rules of the game, take a back seat in finals!

Buddy ran about 25 metres along the boundry without bouncing the ball, for one of his goals! whats with that!

I would think Stevie J would be on the receiving end of a massive bake from his coach. Failed to take the first option repeatedly and always looked to do the impossible. He wanted to create his own highlight reel. He was lucky Hawthorn were shot ducks and didn't have the manpower to capitalise on his errors.

I've always said Steve Johnson would be dropped every few weeks in a rubbish side.

He makes the basic things look impossible.

Sure he does the incredible things, that's all he tries to do, so he's bound to pull them off a lot of the time.

Bad luck for Buddy, take a year off and come home to the Dees, I'll get you the #3.

I felt the Menzel one, love watching him, he'll be a gun if he isn't already. What bad luck.

I hate seeing long term injuries to the stars and future stars of our great game.

Buddy and Menzel on one night, and the poor young bloke looked shattered after the game.

Weather they are playing for the MFC or ripping the game open against us I want to see the best play.

Good luck to both and hope to see them back as good as ever ASAP.

So if Buddy needs a full reco:

pretty much the hawks should put him on ice for all of 2012

Roughie, who might miss the first 11 weeks anyway should be kept in wool

Rioli should go back home on "Sympathetic leave" for 6 months and Hodge given a break as well

Mitchell they should offload to GWS for Jaeger O'meara

and spend all next year getting as many games as possible into Stratton, Bailey, Breust, Smith, Puopolo, Savage, Suckling etc and 'prepare' for next years draft which is a cracker.

But i dont see any of that happening, just saying..

More interesting is that West didn't touch it first. Thought it was paid because a ruckmen normally doesn't get up that high.

Allow me to say that I am very very confident that the AFL's Umpire Review Panel will determine both decisions to have been correct.

(and indeed all future decisions)

Your evident problem in comprehension may be related to the fact that you have not taken into account which way the wind was blowing.

Absolutely! You don't wish that on anyone!

Poor Menzel turns 20 in a couple of days, too. Not a very nice B'day present.

Let's hope neither injuries are as serious as they initially looked!

Saw the picture of Buddy's father on page 39 of the HUN.

Now there's a different cat!

Very cool.

Really like Buddy and his Rasta Dad, his hot sister etc

but just love seeing Hawthorn suffer .

May they endure more suffering until their supporters learn some humility.

When Hawthorns season is over does anyone think that Sam Mitchell will go to GWS?

I personally think he is a bigger chance then people think. It has been said that it won't happen because of his young family and he has the support of his family in Melbourne to assist with the children. But to me that may give him more of a reason to give due consideration to any offer.

I am aware of what having children can do to a person as I have 4 children aged 9, 5, 4 & 2. You start thinking more and more about the future and in particular their future and ensuring that you are able to give them the best life you can.

I am not saying he is a certain to go just that the reasons people are giving for why he will stay can also be the reasons why he may go.

He is a highly paid, former captain, 2011 best and fairest, 2011 All Australian and loyal hawk. He is not going anywhere.

I'd agree with Felix.

If they are offering him money proportional to what has been offered to Callan Ward, considering their respective abilities, it's the sort of money Mitchell couldnt turn down with his kids in mind.

I also understand that his youngest has had complications and spent quite a bit of time in hospital?

Medical bills aren't often cheap.

Hmmn, playing like a 'Millionaire', already, and it's not even after the GF yet?

And Mitchell, where was his head at???

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
