R20 Player Review

I just looked at the player review. Is it just me or is it a much better reflection of what we saw rather than the fairy floss we usually get delivered?

Yes I thought that too, but it might just be an inference based on recent events.

Maybe Williams has been 'freed up' too...

Yep. The references to leadership are very pertinent imo.

Yes noted this as well.

No it is not just you, in the past I would read these reviews and think we must have won the game

when we had actually endured a 8 goal loss!

The reviews have always been extremely upbeat even after big losses, mostly talking about roles being played in the team and workrate etc.

It's an insight possibly into the "teaching" modle we have in place where players are set tasks to fulfill rather than just go out there and win the ball (and hopefully the bloody game!). I don't expect them to rip into the players on the club website especially when they always show them support in other mediums, but I wish they'd show a bit more disappointment in the teams overall performance.

Yep. Normally got my "reading between the lines" goggles on for these - didn't need them this week.

Brad Green: Greeny didn’t involve himself in the game enough. We just need more from our leaders, and Brad needs to continue to lead with his involvement and with his voice on the ground.

Stefan Martin: Stef was beaten convincingly. He didn’t spread hard, and wasn’t involved in enough play. He missed a shot early, which would’ve helped his confidence. We need Stef to dig deep and fight back hard this week.

Good stuff.

I agree they are alot more honest. if these are the reviews released online I wouldn't mind listening to the reviews given behind closed doors.

Agree - although a bit rough tearing strips off Martin - still pretty young and Sat was a good learning experience. Thought Moloney's review was pretty scathing...

Theres still a little reading between lines that can be done but these reviews are far far more real and circumspect.. Good to see ( and read ). Id stop botheringwith them prior as were just total fiction.

Slowly the Titanic turns ??

Yet some people have jumped ship already .

And like who writes this stuff?...from a club email...."And for those really worried that Etihad won’t feel like a home ground this Sunday, have no fear, the Demon trumpeter will play the theme song before the game and in the Victory Room after the game - when and if the Demons win."

Almost enough to turn me off going

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
