My main issue is to not have more games in darwin OD We are behind the 8 ball enough as it is.

I would prefer to have no games in the top end...it does disadvantage the players.

Point taken...but if we keep selling games into Darwin we will remain a bottom club regardless of coin size.

Yeah probably ... might even be Monday night football. You might get away with Friday night Darwin .... next game Monday night of following week. That would give you 10 days.

Demons have been approached by AFL to sell more home games in particular to Darwin

1 department liked the idea where the FD & players are not keen unless condition apply.

I cant validate this as fact so take it for what it worth ... suppose time will tell.

That would only require a couple of players per Club to fill the State of origin sides. The rest of the Lists get a break, and when one of these stars needs a rest, the selectors can choose which game or 2 to give the player/s that suits the Clubs ladder situation.

17 matches + 3 Bye Rnds = 20 weeks + the 4 Rnd Finals Series = 24 weeks....

Hawthorn play 2-3 games a year in Tassie don't they?

I have no issue with it. As long as we still get 11-12 games at the MCG a year, home or away.

Tassie's a lot closer to home that Darwin and I don't think humidity is much of a problem in Launceston.

What would you know? If we get 500,000 a game .... on no thats right you would rather play the game at the MCG and lose money.

We would lose money this year if the game against Port was at the MCG, assuming current projections are correct.

I thought it was a done deal-why would the players have any say whatsoever? I thought we were trying to build a genuine connection with Indigenous cultures? Or is it too hot for our militant unionist player group to go up north .This doesn't make sense .The straw that broke the camels back was a dumb coach obsessed by stats . The straw that broke the coach wasn't a straw , but more of an avalanche .Bailey thought people wiping their feet on the oldest football club in the world was OK .He still wasn't upset about it either .Who really cares if the players say it's too hard ,too hot ,too high ,too far .Those are the players to draft .This club is not a democracy in which the players have some kind of say .Get it? Their job is to play AFL .That means they'll go where we send them when we send them.

Before he was dumped by his fellow board members ten years ago, Joseph Gutnik was exploring the idea of playing games in Tasmania to boost the budget. In the end, Hawthorn won the prize and has had a very successful and profitable arrangement ever since.

In the meantime, we as a club have, from a playing point of view, unsuccessfully experimented with raising $'s by:

1. Selling home games to Brisbane Lions (massive fail winning only once);

2. Selling home games to Canberra where we ended up mostly playing against the Swans and again giving up home ground advantage;

3. Selling home games to Darwin where we've given away a significant home ground advantage over Port Adelaide to play in steamy, energy-sapping conditions that adversely affect the team's performance for weeks afterwards. This year a fee of the players have come down with illnesses in the fortnight after returning from Darwin.

The answer, I believe, is to continue to explore other markets where a game or two can be sold - for e.g New Zealand or even regional areas where the game is strong such as Albury-Wodonga.

If it's a money thing then perhaps it's time to demand that Cameron Schwab takes a page out of Campbell Rose's book and takes a bit of a razor to the large office staff at the football club and starts beefing up the football department to provide the players with better coaching and facilities.

AUSTRALIAN Football league means they play anywhere we send them , including China , Siberia or Bankstown .

The positives for Darwin are our indigenous connection that we want to further foster, negatives it very hard on the players.

If a football department need more money to be competitive, not sure by reducing the size of the engine (admin dept) that is trying to feed it is such a great idea. We have to face reality in 2011, if we want to grow our club to further improve our on-field success we need to find alternative income sources. Otherwise we will be forced to ... ALL have to give a bit.

No need to sell another game North for 500k.

Do a deal with Hancook for 500k. All players to run out one week (or even 2!) with a Hancook "tyre" as a big red hoop instead of the red V.
