Are there any racehorses in the Harry Potter stories.

No, but they have hippogriff's.

I'm getting the feeling you're out of your depth!!

A Hippogriff (also spelled Hippogryph and Hippogryphe, Italian: Ippogrifo) is a legendary creature, supposedly the offspring of a griffin and a mare.

Does it look a bit like this?

I think I may have backed a few that ran like the one outlined in the Hippogriff photo. Congratulations on your win Redleg.

My life is more fullfilled now that THE thread has gone.

Any chance of similar for pro Malthouse threads?

Or is it all about The Lord Of The Wings?

Noble Game at 12.45. Probably a bit short this one at 2000m but will run again at Caulfield on 30th over 2400m and that will be his day.

Disappointing night for us, Aussie appears to have ended his AFL career and the Bombers come from 6 goals down to win, after Johncock who was starring, went off, Then the Crows lost another player and played one short for the rest of the game.

Aussie ? Really ? wow.

Our favourite female TV reporter on 10 news said that Aussie wasn't returning to Melbourne this year and wanted to play for a local Darwin team, the Thunder, next year. He will be delisted if that happens.

Can't believe it, we are 172 posts ahead of the new TS thread. That should last about 30 minutes.

Thanks...I've only just caught up on the Aussie thread.

Prior to this I thought we're a bit thin on the small forward role. Even more now given this news. Maric will need some competition me thinks.

Benno I have not read it for 30 years but back then I found it very heavy going.

Now that might just mean that HP is aimed at kids.

Says something about me perhaps!

i did too the first time i read it - i spent the whole time working out who was who and what was what etc etc etc.

by the end of the 2nd read and the 3rd (yeah ive read it more than 3 times) it was an absolute joy and i could see what a masterpiece it was.

HP is teenager stuff... not that i mind that, i just finished smashing the last of matthew reilys books. they are flat out!

ps adelaide are pants

Bit unfair. Before Johncock got injured they were 6 goals up and he was their best player. Then they lost another player and played 1 short. You can't win playing short these days.

I thought that was why the rule was brought in...

It was, but if you lose 2 players , like the Crows, did, you are then short 1 player. The rule helps clubs that lose 1 player as only 21 players on rotation are available to play.

I am a little embarrassed to raise this here as it originates on the other thread, but I won't post there, though I think it is an interesting point.

Robbie F raised the issue that if you know who doesn't sign with GWS this year, then GWS, as they have offered him a contract can't take another uncontracted player this year.He said that if we signed up everyone we wanted to keep while you know who is deciding whether to leave, they couldn't make an offer to anyone else, until the decision was made. If we secure our boys then no one is available to them to grab this year.

I don't think that is correct. I don't think they are limited in how many offers they can make, but only in how many they can actually take under this uncontracted player poaching rule. They are limited to getting 1 player but I don't know of any limit on offers that can be made. What Robbie is saying is that if we sign up everyone we want to keep and then you know who stays, we will not lose anyone to them that we want to retain and that the club may be using the next few weeks to do this. Can someone clarify this.

As the posts rise on that other thread they are back to fighting each other again. I wonder how long it will take till it is locked, that will make 3 so far.

Looks like the anti-Scully thread has sprung a leak - the skipper appears to have put an axe through the hull.

Bruce's call during the Adelaide game Friday night suggesting that the reason Graham Johnsock was nicknamed "Stiffy" was due to his unusual running style. Made me giggle a little.

Bruce probably had one too.

lol @ your typo. Memories of American Pie.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
