Karma met with Maynard today. It was only a preliminary meeting prior to the KB weekend where major karma will be inflicted.

No details yet about the other vehicle. Could it have been the karma bus?

Just having a laugh - obviously karma isn't a thing. We're going to have to sort him out ourselves.

Bad games.

But lost at selecting two all rounders.

We don't need six bowlers given the quality of four of them.

It's just silly choosing Greene and Marsh.

One maybe.

Also there must be other options other than Carey who averages around 23.

But credit to a great effort from a young Wi team.

Green is a no.6 ... of course he bats at no.4 for WA but Doug Walters used to bat at no.4 for NSW

To me Green had to bide his time and a specialist opener (Bancroft or Renshaw) to bat at the top of the order

Smith stays at no.4

How is an ageing Smith going to go against a top class fast bowling attack led by Bumrah next summer? (India)

It looks like the selectors have mapped out the next 12 months but they won't want to lose against the Kiwi's or India

With so many woke wankers telling me what I should or should or should not celebrate, I went and purchased an Aussie flag to adorn The Manor’s dog ute.

First time I’ve done that.

( The flag was made in China and purchased from a Lebanese operated thrift shop.  That’s multiculturalism at its best! )

You really shouldn't have.

Daisycutters probably correct.

It's Bbos fault.

I have a theory that bananas crop up in this thread every time the topic starts to become a problem for mods. It is the safety ramp on a mountain, giving the truck with failed brakes somewhere to go instead of off a cliff.

Thanks for the show of support dc - I'm touched!!!  ( Borewood [censored])

This whole social media/YouTube/internet thing is becoming more and more scary and difficult to understand.

I was talking to a lady earlier today who avowed that 'stastistics' proved  that smokers were less likely to get covid than non smokers.

I expressed some doubt about that finding but she assured me it was ridgy didge as her partner ( 'who is good at these things') got it off the internet.

I know this bloke, and he's why the word  knucklehead was invented.

I contend that the most important skill we can give our kids is a critical mind. What is [censored] and what is (possibly) believable.

I am, however, [censored] if I know how to teach it.

Except I am not a mod.

In this scenario, if mods are the goalie you are the defender who gets back to limit the angles ;)

Or maybe the old banana-and-stick routine. A favourite of @Bitter but optimistic I believe?

Its all about scaring off Geelong supporters, I think

I was a bit disappointed. Those girls disappeared for 4 days. But they are back.  A nice distraction from life

True. Someone told me you just use them as a plug..

Chinese New Year last night. It’s now officially the Year of the D!

D for Dragon but also D for Demons.

Since 10pm-ish last night pretty much nonstop fire crackers are going off like crazy. Sounds like heavy machine-gun fire. Even my nexties are letting them off. My poor chooks are having ‘Nam flashbacks. I haven’t seen them at all today. 😭

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
