Is it over yet?

It is not very long ago Mr. Leg that this period was the most exciting time of the year for MFC supporters. Amazing what a few wins and playing finals does.

I had forgotten how exciting and interesting this thread was until I sneaked on board to have a look.

Very reassuring that you are back talking about bananas.

So reassuring in these troubled times.

Glad you're back on this thread Ernie.

Now you can tell me ( in total privacy of course) the filthy details about your "open marriage" experiences.

As you're dead you can't be sued, so cut loose.

Yep it can be quoted - as evidenced here. Only unusual looking thing is that it as well as the 2 following posts by BBO and Red have ‘PM’ hovering below the header under the time of posting. Just those 3 posts in a row, and not before or after them.

Looking at it on a phone screen, that is.

the quote "as evidenced here" in your post is not the one i'm talking about. i'm guessing it never made it, but for some reason i see it still but with those oddities (when i say all pink, it is the background not the text)

ah well.....

Which open marriage Uncle, I have had a few.

Its mainly about disappointment, recriminations, sadness, unrequited desire, selfishness, jealously with a little bit of shame thrown in at the end.

Need to know more?

Crikey Ernie, now you've done it!

You just made me  tear up. My bacon, egg and quadruple pancake sandwich is ruined.

Shame on you.

Sometimes that's the best way for all concerned.

Uncle, when you stand up in a court of law to answer the charges or offences, it will be difficult to argue a defence of "apparently but not consciously" your Honour. Particularly, once all the witnesses have been called, both participants and observers.

You might want to talk to Red who probably went to school with the Judge.

And you better hope the Judge is not of the fairer sex. Otherwise you will get a life sentence.

Then you will have to entertain yourself in the privacy of your own nice little cell.  Although probably not very different from what you get up to in your dungeon at the Manor.

I would have expected there to be more than Bbo in his dungeon Ernest!

Maybe have a rest until next season.

All the posters can have a well earned sabbatical and return to their other interests.

A well earned rest from bananas and the peccadilloes of Uncle Bitters.

It has become repetitious, predicable and hum drum.

It may take on a fresh and new meaning in 2019.

Good point and I am sympathetic with bananas and everything they stand for. Not only that but one of my favourite movies is Bananas with Woody Allan.

However, since we have a dedicated cheese thread over on the other board, there’s no reason why you couldn’t have a designated bananas thread and I’ve never been completely comfortable with the linkage of bananas, the unmentionable and BS.

No trolling and only raised it as a subject for debate given that throughout the lifetime of this thread GWS and the unmentionable (who I’ve now mentioned twice in this post) have been inextricably linked and now that the nexus has been broken  you might want to take advantage of the situation.

And, as Hemmingway has, as always, eloquently put it, the place has hit the wall and a rest is much needed.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
