James Wall

Recommended Posts

Can someone who knows alot about Casey to me why James Wall who is consistely listed in the best players is not on an AFL list?

I understand he may have been on St Kilda's and Sydneys list at one stage?!?!

Should we rookie list him next year?

I have always liked Wall, and have often asked myself the same question. I think he would be worthy of a spot at Melbourne on the rookie list.

Consider, .....maybe........if HE wants to. That may be why he ain't already. Has anyone asked him??

Fair point. I feel that he may be 'stuck inbetween positions' as a player. At 197cm and 93kg or so, he is good enough to play on the wing and key position at Casey but at AFL level he may not be strong enough for KP and not agile/speedy enough etc for the wing or wherever else he may play. Just my opinion..

Good point - i have often thought the same thing when watching Casey.

I suspect he has not been offered a gig because he is similar to a number on our list already: Morton, Cook, Fitzpatrick.

Having said that i am am yet to see him have a bad game, and would have to be better than a few already there: Newton, Davis, McNamara

Maybe worth a try, and would send positive signals to the rest of the Casey playing group. How old is he?

Bloody good question Bruce Almighty. I always think the same everytime I see him as BOG for Casey.

James Wall

Height: 197cm

Weight: 93kg

D.O.B: 1987-01-05

Previous Clubs: St.Kilda/Sydney/Calder Cannons

What does that make him.. 25 y/o ?

24 since Jan 5th (assuming date is yyyy-mm-dd)

Tim Mohr has been the big improver of all of the Casey players this year. He's tall, moves well and has worked hard on his fitness after an injury interrupted 2010.

James Wall has been at two AFL clubs already. Perhaps lacks a little in pace to play AFL while Stockers might be a bit short.

I think Kyle Matthews might have made it at the right club but that nasty injury last year probably put paid to that prospect. His assailant appears in court next month I understand.

Wall is a good quality VFL player, but I don't know whether he's up to AFL standard. We have a lot of people on here complaining about players like Bate and Dunn who are considered to be too strong for VFL and not quite good enough for AFL. I suspect Wall would be another. I really can't see a place for him on our side.

Has it has a long-term impact on him, or do you just think he 'missed the boat', so to speak?

yeah i am sure he would turn it down! NOT- you could not name 1 player in any league in the country that would not want to be on an AFL squad.

Think before you comment mate!!

What does a rookie get paid? $60,000? Maybe somebody might have a decent job and not want to throw it away for the off chance they might get a decent contract later on which sets them up?

Mate, at that level you back yourself in! if he didnt possess this type of confidence he wouldnt even be playing VFL and winning B&F's etc

Think it's only in the mid 30's.

JPod only accepted the offer to go on the cats rookie list after receiving assurances with regards to having continuing employment (he was already working with the cats) if it didn't work out

The real topic is who we trade out of a good bunch .Dunn ,Garland ,Warnock ,Morton ,Bate ,Bartram etc who are very good but have had time to cement a spot .Are they up to it?

I think Aussie is may be de-listed ,dunno?

I like Bater unlike most of this forum but people reckon hes too slow .

Bartram-gun tryer but bad by foot

Dunn -Bad by foot ,clumsy .

Garland /Warnock -good defenders but not dominating

Morton - slow developer ,soft

Spencer -unlucky to be at a club with Jamar ,Gawn , Martin.

Aussie-probably not gunna make it (dunno) .

or that Scully guy(no skill ,no desire ,bad attitude ,lazy)

You like applying you own values to others, don't you?

I'd love to have had a shot at making AFL, but I have mates who've played VFL and could've made AFL but placed a higher priority on other things.

Some people just value other things higher.

I was joking about Scully Artie-he will probably make it in the AFL.

Maybe you should think before you comment - I did think , and as I remember for example Nick Sauntner said he couldn't be bothered with all the training and sacrifices required, and I am sure there are many other guys with talent but without the commitment to make the jump.

What the..?

Garland cemented a spot in our side a very long time ago and is not someone we would want to trade out because we don't need/want him!

Bartram has also cemented a spot in our side, but we'll be a better side when/if we can replace him.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
