A glaring problem last night was on the very rare occasions we put the footy forward..its was to whom ?? Was a joke. I know theres this wonderful fad these days of players roaming al over the joint.. but can we at least keep 1 real forward in the arc..please !!

If Morton is dropped what does that say. They should play Morton the next 2-3 weeks to see if there is anything there. Going back to Casey does not benefit.

Morton fluffed 2 kicks but I actually thought he put his body on the line well last night. His first attack on the pill was perfect yet he is rewarded with a free kick against for what was a good attack on the ball by two players. The issue with injuries is it forces to many kids or too many C-Graders all at once. Players who we want to teach lessons ie: Morton and Bennell and forced to be played to plug gaps. Players who need to know they are on the edge of being demoted too work hard ie: Petterd, Dunn etc... get games based on trying to balance maturity and youth.

If we have a forward line next week that plays forward, play with the same application as last night and remove some of the deadwood from tonight then I am confident we will win next week. I would not make wholesale changes but return Trenners and Bartram if available and honour 2 players who deserve a game from Casey today.Anymore than 4 is too much.

Step 1: DO NOT BRING BACK DUNN! Do not forget how terrible he was against North Melbourne, and in fact for the entire year so far. He has been shocking. He does not deserve to get an instant recall to the side simply because we are playing badly. He needs to do his penance by playing at least 4 weeks for Casey. We gain nothing by playing him.

From there, it's simple. Trengove is an automatic inclusion. He can have Morton's spot. Morton is pathetic. Newton's not much better, so I'd let him go and give Gawn the number 1 ruck job. Martin is good enough to be number 1, but in the long run with Jamar back, Martin's a number 2, so let Martin and Gawn split it. Tough ask, given Essendon's rucks, but Newton is hopeless. Bate is also crap, as is Petterd, so one of them makes way for Howe, who should be playing.

I would also like to remove Bennell, but he stays by virtue of the injuries and lack of depth. Evans and Nicholson also stay, but are simply biding time.

I don't mind Robbo having a sing but when Olivia and Jimmy do a duet, they provide stupid flashing horns (which I didn't take btw), and our players are being pushed into every corner of the media - it is all a smoke screen to hide the fact that 2011 is basically over.

I know Juice is your love child dee-luded but geez after 7 seasons he still runs around like a headless chook.

How long do we wait? He'll never be in any top 8 team so why don't we just move on and save everyone the embarrassment?

for all the newton bashers, without looking at stats he took the most marks inside 50, had equal most shots at goal, like it or not he gives us a target no one else does... he makes some shocking mistakes, but he is the best option we have up forward right now...

Based on last night, how could anybody drop Newton instead of Petterd? I think Newton is the biggest roaster in the spud patch, but Petterd particularly, and Bate second, were MUCH more of a liability than Newton.

We are just a horribly wobbly caboose full of passengers at the moment, but due to injuries, we just can't make them accountable for their undeserving play. On form from last night, there are 6 I would drop from last night, but Petterd MUST go, and Scully(if fit) and Trengove must come back.

Therefore, Out: Petterd, Evans, Nicholson (harsh, but they are underexperienced, and we need to have some experience out there. They will get more oppotunities)

In: Howe, Scully, Trengove.

Why do we need experience out there? We won't win next week and at the moment winning is irrelevant anyway, our season is over and has been since round 5 (round 2 if you want to be serious) so we may as well get some games in to kids who may be ok and jettison the perennial failures who will get us no where. Jones out and Evans stays, Nicholson in Bennell out.

Jones costs us goals every week and Bennell will one day melt if the temperature rises above fridge level, he's that soft.

Morton to stay in but in the forward line or on the wing, forget the backline, see if he can get the ball in to our forward line or kick a few goals. Howe in for Bate.

While I agree Newton has a crack, that alone can't keep him in the team as he just not up to it and wont be at the club beyond this year anyway. Also I don't see how your argument of us needing a deep marking target works as our best games in the last few years have been without a deep marking KPF eg: Adelaide game this year we were using Jurrah & Petterd, Sydney game last year Jurrah & Green & Brisbane game last year Petterd & Green.

Long term Jurrah is more then capable of playing deep as long as he has someone like a Fitzpatrick or Cook who's able to support him like O'Loughlin did at Sydney with Lockett & then Hall to ride shot gun next to.

And again as for Petterd, he needs a bigger output I agree, but as the defensive forward his main job would of been to curb Yarran's influence which I reckon he did. And I can't recall what particular soft act Petterd was involved in last night?

Yes!Yes!Yes! You can find a stat on just about anything but the ultimate stat is that games are won by the side who scores the most goals. Too often we simply don't give ourselves the opportunity to convert a good possession in the HB or midfield into a goal.

This is our golden opportunity to continue to develop some kids.

Given many of our first choice players are out injured, we did the right thing in recent weeks playing our more mature depth players with very disappointing outcomes. It's fair to say that our more experienced depth players are poorly skilled, lack smarts and worse of all, have not given us a serious contest (apologies to Newton who has actually worked hard, but just isn't up to it). With all that in mind, now is the time to play some more kids who have shown some level of form with Casey. So going by half time reports from Casey, my changes would be:

In: Trengove, SCULLY, Gawn, Blease, Howe

The outs can really just pick themselves.

Bennell needs a run in the two's for a while, never have i seen such consistant pulling out of contests or playing for freekicks in a Melbourne jumper. He really has no role within the team at the moment, never thought i would say it, but i pray for Bartram to come back already and take his place.

Head nearly exploded last night when he, in a one on one contest, goes to ground playing for the free 15m out from Carlton's goal.

Bennell needs a run in the two's for a while, never have i seen such consistant pulling out of contests or playing for freekicks in a Melbourne jumper. He really has no role within the team at the moment, never thought i would say it, but i pray for Bartram to come back already and take his place.

He wasn't an orphan last night, too many Melbourne players fell over to put themselves out of the contest. That one was particularly bad though I must say, p/weak.

Actually that's the whole problem with Melbourne, players have been allowed to get away with that for far too long and I would rather see kids like Evans and Nicholson, who put their head over the ball, play.

Newton gets pushed under the ball too easily, he gets front position often but just can't hold it. He's better if he comes from the side or the back but not a lot.
