If he doesn't play for Casey, I'd say he's being rested due to soreness.

If he's just being dropped for poor form, he'd be playing for Casey.

Fairly logical, yes?

That friday business is just rubbish...

Is the club locked into a particular specialist ?

If not, why can't they see someone else before Friday who is a specialist and free from appointments ?

And if Connoll's says it's not an ACL, strained, Medial, etc, how does he know it could only be a week or two at worst with "discomfort", without having checked with the specialist ?

"It came up early in the week.." ..When ? During a meeting ?!

"If" they're holding him back from playing due to last weeks poor form, they should be transparent. And "if" that is the case I would suggest the same for Wonaeamirri too. Both players walked off fine, untroubled. Suddenly both have been referred to as having knee soreness. Coincidence ?

I hope it's not a be careful not to tread on eggshells moment, just in case you don't hurt confidence or feelings, because such stances are a soft approach and a very different path from the ruthless club we were promised.

Very unhappy with the club on this at the moment.

Any chance we can trade for some testicles mid season.

Agreed.

Pathetic move if this injury is indeed a ploy to mask Davey being dropped, especially if it means we can't even play him with Casey.

He is not above being dropped for poor form. Sorry but as a leader he should feel more pressure than anyone to perform and if he doesn't, he should be made accountable for his poor form.

you guys are just bagging the club without any information (geeee that never happens here does it)

if they are dropping him it would be to make a statement, why would you then cover up the statement with a fake injury it makes NO SENSE

think about it

Posted

Whilst he hasn't been great, I hardly think he deserves to be dropped, considering the terrible quality of the delivery he has had to contend with.

OK, I haven't had a chance to watch a replay, but I was at the game and can't recall a single moment when he was in the F50 whilst we were going forward.

Were there (m)any?

I would have thought in order to get any form of strain injury ( and what could it be if not all the others described) then first some form of effort is required!!

I don't think he got close enough to anyone to get knocked.. Lol

I think HT has asked some pretty legitimate questions...

Cover up or not I don't know, but would hate to think so.

I'm questionning the club and the statement (the information you're looking for) provided by Connolly. Bagging would be jumping to conclusions.

The only thing I question is the seemingly clumsy attempt at explaining the circumstances, rather than just a bog standard "Davey has knee soreness and as a result is in doubt for next week's match."

It's going into unnecessary and vague detail by Connolly, which has only led to doubt.

Maybe poor handling of the matter, but I think some would still come out with the conspiracy theories whether we got more or less info anyway.

Me thinks they ( or someone ) protests too much

Davey cant see someone until Friday? I assume this must be because MFC are on the Medicare waiting list like others that can't afford private healthcare.

Yep that sounds pretty weird to me given I've had my appointments bumped by artho surgeons before because they had 'emergency appointments' to attend to with footballers.

I've had Colin Garland steal my appointment before. Bastard! :P

there needs to be a question asked when you go many consecutive years with a huge injury list

if you don't ask the question, and instead put it down to luck and move on, you're a muppet

especially when your club is broke

You know Jaded, I just watched a bit of the replay, (yet to sit down & watch it through) when Davey took himself off, we were about 4 points down... And fighting hard for the Lead. He went to the bench for a checkover and a sitout, then went back on.

Needless to say we went down. The body language I noticed by players @ the start of the Qtr in Daveys area didn't look good. I'll go back for a more 'in perspective' Look, at the whole thing.

It's incredible the things you notice, with the 'Sound off', whilst watching the recorded game.

The Aroma sounds very much like a job for Sig' Freud. Seriously, it does, but illness can cause these things, and persistent Stress can bring on "Illness". That can cause poor form. And poor form can cause "Stress".

OK so Tapscott, davey, Bartram out injured this week

still just putting it down to bad luck are we smart guy

So it looks like Scully and Wona made it through the test, but Bartram and Davey (?!?) have been added to the unavailability list.

Anyone know more about Bart's injury?

Literally taking it for the team; nice one.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
