It's that you've made up your mind already based on idle speculation and call everyone who hasn't come to the same conclusion an ostrich. Even if Tom does leave you won't have been any more right than you would've been if he stayed, because you're drawing a conclusion on facts that don't exist outside your head.

No if Scully leaves he'll be right.

No I am saying lets wait for the facts before we make misguided negligence claims.

Unless Scully was contracted to GWS before he was even drafted by Melbourne I can't see that your assertion that the deal may already have been done undermines anything Roost It has said.

Arent we talking about 2012 onwards?

Hypotethetically, MFC may not have had a chance to reasonably counterbid GWS if their offer was accepted and was not made aware to MFC. So they may not have necessarily been negligent in the process. Again, we dont know and its too early to alleging negligence.

Some of us, in fact most of us, rarely let facts get in the way of our opinions!

So once again I ask, are you saying he lied to all of us?

Ugh. I have already addressed that and in last response I said "hypothetically". I dont know any more of the facts than you clearly do. But there are a range of possibilities.

Better go work on your negligence thesis....

Just to add another possibility for the fear-mongers, what if the "deal" that Scully's management is negotiating is just between Richmond and GWS?

GWS uses their uncontracted player powers to get Scully, who is then traded off to Richmond for a player/s and/or their first pick?

Then, technically, if Richmond is the side dealing with his management, Scully hasn't been lying about being approached by GWS - the approach will have been by the tigers, who alone are dealing with GWS...

Anyway....

There's only 2 possibilities.

1. He's signed with them and is a liar

2. He hasn't signed with anyone.

I'm not trying to get under your skin here I just don't believe he would say he hasn't signed if he has. Also I used the word negligent to emphasize my point that the guy is an absolute must keep. We have not had an elite player for over 20 years and can ill afford the loss of Scully, both on and off the field. There's room to pay him enough and hopefully the club is now somewhere a player of his ability would prefer to play than sheedy's circus in shitsville. Richmond paid over the odds for Martin because they knew they couldn't afford to lose him. I was actually hoping the club would get him to sign before they released their 3 game memberships but not to be.

Fair enough but we dont know. I would like to believe you are right.

No one doubts his importance.

Is there? If the $$$$ are true then if we were to accommodate the offer (if it gets down to money) the every player is in for a haircut when their contracts come up for renewal. The risks move from Scully to one or more of the top 6 that we have.

Once again, the alleged dollars are in excess of Martin's contract. However MFC will have to offer Scully a very good contract regardless. And I hope he signs that.

I was called a lot worse for my opinions long before the O word ever came up.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
