I'M 46, NEVER SMOKED I'VE GOT LUNG CANCER

Its on the Herald Sun website now but will be in tomorrows edition.

Its good to get an update to see how he is going and its great the club is around him. I can't believe all his black hair has gone. I know there are people all over the world battling cancer and the media tend to focus on just the well known but as a melbourne fan Sean was a very special player for our club.

It just frustrates me how the people who look after themselves get the cancer and people can smoke for 40-50 years and nothing happens to them. Im not saying every smoker deserves lung cancer and no one deserves to get cancer but you try to be healthy and sometimes it just doesnt pay off.

Good luck Sean!

It sounds like he's had a tough time of things.

Hopefully cases like this raise awareness about lung cancer, and the fact don't necessarily get it from smoking.

I hope Sean fights and wins the good fight. All strength to him.

And often on this Forum this Club gets belted by posters often unfairly for various issues. On this occasion the Club deserves a lot of credit supporting Sean.

"The Melbourne Football Club have been stupendous with their time and support. Cameron's (Schwab) been great, 'Connols' (Chris Connolly) has been great, Jimmy's been good; the door's always open."

The club has paid for equipment and appliances to meet his special needs at home, and there's a benefit function to be held at the Bentleigh Club on June 11.

Great atuff MFC. Sean Wight has a special place at MFC. You deserve the beat this scourge Sean.

My first years as a Melbourne supporter as a kid were spent with the number 27 on my back.......

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
