The AFL has now set a precedent that they should live to regret

They have explicitly laid out what the minimum penalty should be if a action takes place on the field that results in a Injury to a player of an opposing team that involves contact of any sort to the head area.

There can be no exception to this rule now, and it will be up to all Melbourne Supporters to remind the AFL of this every time a Incident of this sort arises

Should any penalty that is handed down in future vary from the penalty applied to Jack I would believe there would be grounds to seek redress at a later date against the AFL should this be the case. However I am not sure of this, but one would think this would certainly be a reasonable expectation.

I for one will be watching all incidents of this type in the future and reminding the AFL of this penalty as I hope all Melbourne supporters will

I adored AFL as a kid. Lived and breathed it. That was then, this is now.

As an adult I find it loses its shine every year due to [censored] like the Trengove Incident.

It is grown men playing a contact sport! I fear by the time my kids are my age they will be watching a choreographed performance that resembles some form of ball game.

The AFL needs to admit they were over the top, apologize to Trenners and the MFC (and the football public) and be careful with how tackles are viewed at the tribunal in the future. If the Trengove Incident becomes precedent, then I urge all of you to find another sport to follow as your past time, because the AFL will lose one of its most important and unique characteristics which is its fast paced tackling and pursuit of the ball carrier.

Swallow that bitter pill AFL, if you don't the long term pain will hurt as viewers will turn away from this over sanitized version of a once wonderful game.
