I think we would have been considering bringing in one of Newton and Martin as a second ruck anyway. Obviously Newton was close to selection, given he was an emergency for the game last week (because of that, he only arrived at the Casey game at quarter time).

Since Jamar is out, we'd have to bring in at least one, if not two.

I'm leaning more and more towards Warnock being our 'best' option with Dunn. Seems to be far too many question marks on the alternatives.

How awful, but we hope for a contest at best and the midfield, especially at stoppages, will need to work as a unit to offset this huge loss of Jamar. Depending on Trengove and his availability we may get away with this against North but against the saints and blues it will have a huge impact.

What's the question mark over Gawn? I realise he's coming from a long way back, but I think if we think Warnock and Dunn are the best we can come up with, we may be vastly overstating how far back he is. He's a lot bigger and is actually has a lot more experience in the ruck than those other two. You wouldn't choose him over experienced ruckman (hence choosing him last, after all of Jamar, Spencer, Martin and Campbell are exhausted), but surely he's better than nothing at all, which is essentially what you're proposing.

Agree 100%. We must go in with a genuine ruckman, Gawn is all we have left (no Juice is not a ruckman).

As I said, there seems to be a question mark over the other options. I'm not entirely sure and couldn't state categorically what the concerns are because I have not seen enough of Gawn etc this season. But I would have reservations about throwing someone in just because they are closer to 7ft tall. I think your grasping to say that he offers a lot more experience when referring to his inclusion into an AFL side. The experience he has is far removed from what he will confront in a senior side.

My thoughts are that Dunn (more so than Warnock) could at least become a 4th on baller and have an effect in this area to compensate for the loss of Jamar. I feel if approached in the right manner that this set up has potential to be of more benefit that 10 hit outs and minimal impact by a ruckman that is not ready.
