Davey and Grimes to swap positions.

Davey won a best and fairest playing as a quarter back behind the play.

Grimes is a ball magnet, but turns it over alot in the backline.

We have all been waiting for Grimes to go in the middle ,and now is the perfect opportunity.

Davey's kicking skills would also mean less turnovers coming out of defence.

The only problem is that Grimes cuts of so many attacking plays by drifting across or holding his ground in front of a lead.... Davey would be equal to or better attacking wise, but in defense it will leave a big hole...

The real move is to put Grimes and Davey on opposite half back flanks...would compliment each other pretty well.

One of Grimes or Tapscott needs to be moved up the ground. I don't care which one, but they're being wasted on the half back line, and I'd rather play someone like Joel Mac there and use Grimes or Tapscott's talents where we can benefit more from them.

yep been saying that all year. Would help Davey break the tags hes getting week to week and put Grimes obvious ability to better use. Hes under way to much pressure in defence at the moment and thats why were seeing lots of uncharacteristic skill errors. This is another reason why i seriously dislike Dean Bailey as a coach. He isnt prepared to make any moves and try players in different positions when things arent going so well. Why wouldnt you put Davey back where he won a B+F two years ago when hes so "dee-railed" at the moment.

Yeah, I like the idea of Davey on a flank but would love Joel Mac in the side to release Grimes into the middle.

The backline is an option but i beleive its a soft option. Davey needs to be in the fwd line. The days of Aaron breaking the lines and gaining meters is gone. He would be better served fwd of the centre where his class can end in a score or score involvement.

Tappy to should be up fwd. Grimes in the middle.

And god we miss Jordie mckenzie for grunt work.

I'm a big fan of Grimes to the middle particularly while Tom Scully and Jordie McKenzie are out leaving us with a certain sameness about the midfield. I've seen Grimes play in the centre for a brief period in a NAB Challenge match in the pre season last year: he was impressive and worked well with Mark Jamar.

The move was foreshadowed earlier in the season when Grimes was picked in the centre but it didn't eventuate.

I sense that the football department is sticking to plan but I can't see why change can't be made when things aren't going well.

Davey back to the quarterback role, Green up forward, the reintroduction of players with a bit of experience like Bate, Macdonald and Warnock. Mix things up for heaven's sake!

i agree with davey down back to use his kicking skills, and to break the tag he seems to be getting. i wouldnt mind putting green down back at least for a week, just to get him into the game. this would also free grimes up to move into the midfield. i would love to see us line up like this :

FB bartram frawley garland

HB green rivers davey

C bail grimes morton

HF tapscott watts sylvia

F wonna jurrah bennell

R jamar moloney trengove

INT gysberts martin jones dunn/bate

i dont agree with wholesale changes, although i was disgusted with the performance, i didnt see anyone in the twos that really stood out or showed they really wanted a game except bate. i would give them one more week, and if people dont start performing, then make changes.

Can Davey defend one on one?

Would any good forward continue to drag him deep and lower his possession count more?

I'd prefer him starting on the wing/half forward and running up and down the corridor.

And he could do the kick ins, Grimes is just to the left of terrible, why do they still get him to do them?

Kicking is not his greatest skill.

How many crap games does Bennell have to put in before you move him?

AN outside receiver just what we needed last week and again this week.

I don't mind the look of that line up, Green and Davey in the backline would give us some accuracy out of defence. Wouldn't mind the ball in the hands of either at the kick in.

Spot on with Green and Davey across half back. Id give Bate a go instead of Dunn or Morton. Grimes in the centre....love to see that!

I Just want to see 4 players stay in the forward half of the ground so when we get the ball in the backline a player looks up and has an option.

Totally agree! I would like to see some forwards in the forward line!

If the opposition run the press we work the ball as quick as possible to one of our longest kicks around the half back flank area and kick over the press to one of our forwards (Please pass this on to Dean Bailey)

Unimaginitive coaching won't make any significant changes. They are trying to get games into certain players, rain hail or drubbing

What's the point of getting losing games into players?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
