I am, because rnd 6 is way too early to be officially meeting on this. For Christ give the guy a crack at turning it around before acting on a knee-jerk reaction to a poor start to the season, you think Geelong would won the premiership with bomber if their board had had the same patience as you?

Don't get me wrong I'm not letting Bailey off the hook, but to do what you're asking will only lead to destablisation at the club. And a fair proportion of the blame should be going on the players. I'm sick of hearing words like "shattered" and"disappointed", I want them to get [censored] off and angry! I still think they can turn this around, but it'll required the players getting their heads the right place, beacue we've seen they can ccompete, it's all there, they just seem so down on confidence.

I dont think hes got the mongrel for this position. His little jaunt around the boundary line for the media seemed far too comfortable...a pleasant diversion. Insert a Malthouse,a Roos..even a Jimmy Hird and there wouldnt have been any bounce in their step , there would have been a steely glare and circumspect comments..the bare minimum...not so for our Dean.

Turn it around ?? ffs turn it up. He hasnt just arirved yesterday...this is his 4th bloody rear at this and were really not much better for it. Yes much ought to levied at the players but who's job is it to gett t he players going ?? There's a mailaise at Melbourne. There was also the same disease at Windy Hill ... but the understood the ailment and sought a cure. So should we.

Rogue doesn't seem to be around so I'd better fill in.

This is a straw man.

All I am saying is that the coach (if you can call him that)should be a discussion point at the board meeting. FFS they dont have to make a decision but at least discuss it.

Epitome of fickle.

After stating a love fest for Bailey last season, its laughable how the worm has turned.

No. It is you letting a department off way too easily Rhino. There comes a time when action speaks louder than words.

I have always been a Bailey fan, but he has to take his coaching to the next level now, and it is this year we will find out if he has the mental strength to do it.

Ability will come from mental strength BB, if it is there.

Bailey is a smart man, but can he lift his own efforts to inspire our entire list? If he can he keeps his job.

youll think im splitting hairs here but i consider mental toughness and ability as to widely differing things.

You can have ability and not the fortitude or conviction to act upon it.

Youcan be tough as nails and over the top we go stuff but not have the nous as to when to duck your head !

He can be as resilient as the Pyramids but if deep down there isnt what it takes to lift his coaching way above the current mediocre into 'success' it will mean nothing.

I dont doubt he has smarts...but does he have ability. I havent seen any true ability at coaching displayed yet. Have seen no masterstrokes mid game, have seen no walls particularly shored up when a dam threatened to crack..Ive seen Melbourne run over any number of times. Ive seen Demon teams with hunched shoulders ( as did Bailey have at games end) . He got us through the maze of 'game management' but in hindsight was this as much luck as real direction ?..After all doesnt take a genius to lose a game...but win them ??

I have liked him..I still like him...just havent any faith currently thathe's an able coach , let alone the one for us .

I agree with your words BB..Let me clarify what i mean.

If Dean Bailey has the mental toughness he will demand that the "extra" ability is extracted from those players.

I am not talking about just words, but as you say the "inner strength" and resilience. It is now that that Dean needs to show it.

If he can do that...he is in fact a good coach. We will find out the answer in the next four weeks.

For some reason whenever I think of Bailey I think of Brian Taylor's funny quip on Foxtel from the Brisbane game.

The camera scanned to Bailey coaching on the sidelines and leaning on one of the shelters. I believe we were behind at the time. Taylor mused "Dean looks like he's waiting for a bus".

It sort of summed things up for me.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
