Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Last thursday cannot be acceptable at anytime in a clubs cycle. It is not part of the process. Please do not kid yourself with that.

We have almost a full list to pick from and we served up that.

From the first bounce....that game was believable in 2008-NOT 3 years later.

Wrong - wasn't even believable then, because at least the boys would fight tooth and nail even when we were getting smashed.

That's why Thursday is so frustrating to me at least.

I guarantee that most of the Demons out there felt the same way as you, which is why we have seen such an outcry for his head to be served up. It seems like the West Coast game was 'the straw that broke the camels back'

No i think many Demons will be there to see what will happen. The reaction to last thursday is a lot different to other past MFC crisis!!!

I for one will definately be there. A lot will be keen to see how the playing group will respond from last week. Many people I've been in contact with have expected us to bounce back. Then again, they are just being optimistic...

Or maybe people think they're going to see bailey coach his last match??

That's all kind of nice and cute except Todd Viney confirmed in an article that the club hasn't spent much time on gameplan and strategy but rather individual development of the players. The reason given was that we're not in premiership mode. Nor are Essendon, but they clearly have a different view on how to get a team in premiership mode.

And unless being hopelessly vulnerable against the forward press in 2011 is going to win a flag in 2014 then I'd suggest we need to reconsider our direction. Wouldn't you ?

Which is why clubs like Essendon would not accept performamces like last week. Too much gentle / touchy feely about our operation. Which is why all of Essendon, West Coast & Richmond have all gone past us this year. We set the bar too low ! :(:(

Do we even have a bar ?

When Bailey joined up he said he'd place no ceiling on the pace of developement .

I'm not sure if a floor has been placed either .

Some will only suggest its stating the bleeding obvious...and should be seen as fluff. I would contend its that it is the veryfact that its the Bleeding Obvious....that its ceased being the Elephant and that its now rampaging for all to see that it now needs to be addressed.

Mathew knights lost his charges long before he lost his job. I cant help but think Im seeing the same on the field with Melbourne. Players performing like wet blankets...how does that occur.. Individually there might be individual reasons but when a team starts playing like sh!t en mass its a team thing.

You really have to ask the question...and Robbo does..is Bailey a dead coach walking ?? I think he is

Well two of the three biggest newspaper journos have spoken about it since Thursday night. Now it's just whether Carro will, most probably tonight.

I'm thinking Footy Classified might actually be essential watching...this is the big issue of the weekend seemingly after all.

ho ho ho.... bet Garry cant wait to turn up for work today ( not ) Caro sharpening her pencil even now. Pick your questions !!

a) Would you coach Melbourne in 2012 Garry ?

B) are there any moves at Melb to remove Bailey mid season ?

C) Is Melb drawing up a short list of potential replacements?

d) Has Melbourne already spoken ( quietly ) to anyone )

e)can this wait til seasons end Garry or will the club have to act sooner rather than later ?

roll up roll up !!

Funny that you say that. Egypt was freed of a 30 year dictator by people getting organized & starting a rebellion using facebook & social media. Whether you think it's clueless or not, it has proven itself to be quite powerful in giving everyday people a voice.

It was a nice try, but there's less than 100 members of that facebook petition (half of whom probably aren't even paid up MFC members) compared to ~ 35,000 members of the MFC. That's ~ 0.003% of the supporter base. Hardly damning evidence of the will of the entire supporter group. Agree with the premise, but it's barely going to raise an eyebrow at the club. I think the backlash on the MFC supporter sites will catch more attention.

The thing is that footy fans as a whole are generally clueless idiots, and I imagine that those making the decisions realise this. If the club deem that sacking Bailey is the correct course of action, then fine, I'll back them in, but if they did it on the back of a few emotional supporters having a good old moan about one poor loss then we're in worse condition than I thought as a club.

Agreed until I got to the part I've emboldened. You can't be serious?!

The Facebook thing was somewhat feral and wouldnt be looked upon that seriously by those that matter. It has however been constantly mentioned in dispatched and so lends itself to bolstering the general angst.

Only a hundred joined the face.. but would have thought thousands wrote or phoned the club...

The club is wellaware the general membership isnt overly enamoured with our eforts just now.It wil be even more acutely aware of murmurings and dissatisfaction amongst the clubs upper echelon. If it keeps up there will be a tap on Jimmas shoulder followed by the "well ...whats happening ? "

We all are suffering bruised egos from last thursday, and all agree it was not acceptable.

But to make a decision about Baileys tenure while suffering the bruised ego will lead people to roll out things like Bailey win loss record as "justification", when in fact his poor win loss is a direct result of him being committed to the rebuild.

This angry search for a scape goat to hold all the blame is making me ill.

22 men play the game, one (of several) men coach it, fans have honed in on Bailey. I think they are misguided.

To me the blame for last thursday lies directly at the feet of the senior playing group not the coach. A position Jimmy stated in the Age today,:Bailey OK but skipper needs to lift.

Disagree, I think looking at the coach after last Thursday's result is more than reasonable. And Jim is never going to publically declare the coach on notice - imagine the media feeding frenzy!

Bailey has the full support of the board....

While I think we should be working hard right now to secure the right man for 2012, Bailey should coach out the year regardless (unless things turn VERY nasty, which I don't think they will).

Calling for his head right now is over the top, but he would need a minor miracle to be there in 2012.

Bailey has been good value in these rebuilding years...getting games into the young players, getting a laugh on Before the Game...and not costing us a packet. And I will never forget his ingenuity in the last quarter against Richmond with Warnock and Frawley shifted forward and Paul Johnson at full back...good or bad it was inspired and Trenners is a ripper.

BUT now I think it is clear we need to change coach at the end of this year. We really have no game plan, can never clear the ball from kick ins, and having all the forwards trying to run onto the ball is just bloody frustrating to watch.

It looks like the mid year review was much needed. It is exciting to think we can get a more experienced head coach and assistants at the end of the season to move to the next level in 2012. Thanks Dean, keep up the development work and to you wounded (like me) supporters out there I suggest we only watch MCG games for the rest of the season....only exception vs. Port Power in Darwin

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
