Melbourne is going to be a champion team again soon, with out without Scully. Let's just keep positive and wait for the end of the year when the kid might have a better idea of what he wants to do. For now, he is a Demon, and he needs (and deserves) the club, including the supporters, to fully support him.

jack viney was a huge signing for melb last year...if he was able to resist GWS...why shouldn't scully do the same? the only real argument for him to leave is money...can't see other reasons?!?!?! if he doesn't like melb then how does he know he'll like GWS? serious...he is staying!

Jack Viney never had the option of going to GWS you damn fool!

Somebody find the facepalm image, preferably the double facepalm.

ABSOLUTELY on the money there Samsara-We can only live in the moment, and right Tom Scully is a DEMON.

The top 5 things that Tom Scully will announce at the MFC press conference:

1. Football is not really what he thought it would be, and he is considering a future as a truck driver instead.

2. He is engaged. (Possibly Lara Bingle, or the Stkilda school girl)

3. He is gay.

4. He lied about his age and is still actually only 12 years old.

5. Feel free to add as I cant think of another....

He can't find his left sock (he seems the sort of guy that might have them sorted that way). It's white with a black stripe.

1. He has signed a generous 4-year deal, feels very fortunate to be at such a wonderful and proud club, and is looking forward to tearing it apart this season with his mates in the red and blue.

They might be looking for a new keeper after the ordinary display in the cup final this week. :)

comment from the HS

Velocity Sports has previously stated that Scully's contract negotiations with the Demons would be deferred to seasons end so that Scully could "direct all his energies to the 2011 season". Velocity Sports also indicated that finalisation of the AFL's new TV rights was a consideration. Surely if those issues are relevant to Scully's future, they are also relevant to Gysberts'future and the futures of other AFL players in their stable. There is a strange odour in the fact that Velocity Sports are having ongoing negotiations about Gysberts'contract but are deferring discussions with Melbourne over Scully's future. Either Gysberts' welfare (and that of other AFL players in the VS stable) aren't as important as Scully's, or Velocity Sports are telling a few porkies about where things are at between Scully and GWS.

I guess there is merit here, and it is this sort of thinking that still makes one think he might leave. At the end of the day, Scully has much more bargaining power than Gysberts, and this management group might see signing Gysberts ASAP as a big positive whilst waiting is the best option for Scully, considering his position.

Is there a triple facepalm photo..?

In fact, the only practical way for GWS to steal Viney from them, was to finish last in 2012 and take him as top draft pick.

Maybe read an article before linking to it..?

Accepted a 1 year contract extension. Thats where my money is.

Interesting perspective. Would possibly mean we have this same situation next year!

Mate.... bottom line is money talks and that's all there is to it. He'll get to play his beloved football nonetheless and perhaps make history in helping GWS achieve their first EVER premiership!

HOWEVER...

- ALL his family are in Melbourne.

- He'll never get the same crowds (the Dees' numbers are building!).

- Victoria is the home of AFL!

- The best stadium in the world will no longer be his HOME GROUND.

It's either "GWS $$" or "the value of what the MFC could soon become".

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
