Goodvibes 3,596 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Thanks for the link Nascent. He certainly ticks some boxes and fills a list need. Has pace, skills and the ability to play both on ball and forward of centre. Really hope he has a great season.
Matt Demon 1,597 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 if players were drafted based on the team they support the Dees would be a bloody good side, Franklin, judd, Gaff, Prestia, Mayes,Patton

bush demon 2,207 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 What about the elephant in the room?? I hope he has more heart than his old man. Good player but very very very soft. Embarrassingly soft. What tosh. If only we had a couple of Steven Stretches running around today we wouldn't be glued to the bottom of the table.
spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Billy Stretch is a bright spot in a dark current landscape. Sign Billy and use our 2nd round choice approx 20. He is a good wingman and has pace which we lack.
picket fence 18,169 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Yeah just what we need another skinny runt!
Redleg 42,143 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Yeah just what we need another skinny runt! If he can play good football though, he will be in the minority
Machsy 2,858 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Yeah just what we need another skinny runt! I guess you wouldn't have drafted Fyfe then? Or Whitfield or Josh Kelly? Such a stubborn and ignorant position to take...
Sydney Pennski 309 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 A nice piece from Age write Emma Quayle about young Stretch. Melbourne would be best but Stretch would live to play for any club
thevil1 421 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Patton Pendles Sloan, Viney, J. Grimes, D. Grimes, Moloney......
T-34 409 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Yeah just what we need another skinny runt! Robbie Flower says hi.
samcantstandya 1,072 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Robbie Flower says hi. Robbie was the last superstar we had. He was wiry but was brave and could do it all from the wing, taking species, kicking bags of goals. I want us 2 select Stretch as a father-son. He wants 2 play 4 us and is passionate about us just like a supporter is. He won't just b playing 4 a pay cheque.

If we finish low on the ladder, no one behind us will nominate him. That makes him a 2nd rounder at best. If the recruiters think he can play AFL and is worth that pick, he is ours.

Machsy, you are very adversarial. If someone has a view that differs from yours invariably they are subject to your almighty wit and repartee. To your mind, they are either ignorant or lack the intelligence that you believe is yours and yours alone. Why not ease up on the 'smartest guy in the room' routine. I happen to agree with what your saying but you don't have to be a [censored] about it. All my laugh, RTG.
Machsy 2,858 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Meh. I get sick of reading the same ignorant carp, so when I see it, I'll rightly ridicule it. Feel free to put me on ignore.
SaberFang 7,151 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Is it just me or has Billy put on some serious size over the last few months? Not the skinny rake he looked like last time I saw him.

Sounds like you need to put everyone on ignore bar yourself. Then every second post could read ' great post Machsy. Nailed it in one.'
Matt Demon 1,597 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Photos are deceiving, I saw him at training a few weeks back and he's very light on.
SaberFang 7,151 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Why is Stretch allowed to train with us? Some sort of conditional rule regarding father/son picks?
Return to Glory 8,518 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Why is Stretch allowed to train with us? Some sort of conditional rule regarding father/son picks? I know he literally had a work experience arrangement with the club last year. I suspect it's a very loose arrangement at this stage.
Moonshadow 17,678 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Robbie Flower says hi. Different era. Game has changed dramatically since Robbie last played. Chicken Smallhorn was pretty light on, but he went ok for the Roys.
picket fence 18,169 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 What I don't want to see is us taking him just because he is the son of a past player. I hold my point, we cannot afford any other mistakes re our drafting! Gone are the days of sentiment in footy! How many on this site who want him have seen him play? I would do thorough research and only ONLY select if he was the best player in the position of the draft. Otherwise don't draft on father son woulda, coulda, shoulda fantasy!
SaberFang 7,151 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 We're talking about Paul Roos here. His recruitment at the Swans was second to none. I predict we'll get Stretch with a second round pick, so what the club will do is offload our high second round pick (probably between 19 and 22 at this rate) in exchange for a player and low second round pick from another club, likely at the top end of the ladder (teams overflowing with depth and keen on better picks so they can continue developing youngsters). Then we can use this lower pick (around 30 to 36) on Stretch. That way we get the value out of our second rounder, and the kid who wants to bleed red and blue for us at a bargain pick.

Unfortunately FS is just before trade week starts to stop this sort of thing. Sorry about that.
