2011 Membership Running Tally

Featured Replies

wouldn't have thought there'd be many more to come, 3rd quarter of round 2 probably closed a couple of thousand wallets

It did here!

No, not really. I was going to buy membership this past game against Brisbane(my 1st for 2011) but didn't go due to weather. I am planning on going to Melb v Adelaide so will buy one then :)

Can someone tell me please - How many members we budgeted for in 2011? Lost my paperwork. Many thanks.

I can't tell you for sure, but I reckon it would have been mentioned in one of the AGM-related threads so you could search there.

From memory it was a couple of thousand more than last year.

I'm no "I dream of genie" JCB.

I thought it was 35,000.

Fairly certain it was mentioned at the Future Fund event, and should be found in the associated thread.

From memory it was 35K

HT & E25 thanks for your replies. HT,it was either 35000 or 35500.We will romp this amount in. Great effort by the club. I was not referring to you as genie- just you as a genius. You seem to have a great insight when it comes to numbers re members. Also I thought Andy or WJ may have known. Not the end of the world- we move on -Go 40000.We will reach this amount -sometime.

Was interested to see how sparse the Hawk's members areas were when we played them last week. Seemed like it was only half full. Interesting given there 52,759 members. This compared with how full the same areas have been for the 2 home games we have had so far, where it has seemed to be 70 to 80% full. I would reckon we have more members who pay for a reserved seat and other higher premium memberships.

Their site says 52,759 with 8,115 from Tasmania. Would love to see the break down by club but I bet the Melbourne memberships are of a higher value on average than many if not all of the other clubs.

The AFL wouldn't want it, but rather than just publishing membership numbers I'd like them to publish membership revenues as well.

With so many dodgy membership types I wouldn't be surprised if some club's numbers don't align the same with their $$$s

The numbers are just window dressing now. The revenue is the bread and butter.

(yeah I know sponsors might be impressed with numbers but they're not really that dumb)

I think they can be...

Nah, I believe sponsors look more to exposure on FTA. We are slowly getting more but are not near the levels enjoyed by others...

My recollection from the AGM is they had budgeted for 35,000.

The finacial guy said that we had budgeted for 35,000. The most interesting thing is that in response to a question about what 40,000 members would mean to us, he said about $500,000.

A bye this week, in Perth the week after. Then Adelaide at home. Not sure of reaching the 40,000 this year. Be great if we did.

Fingers crossed here.

well i hate to be the one to put a kibosh on this but I think the club can safely kiss goodbye any notion of reaching 40000 this year and getting over 35000 will now be a struggle after last nights pathetic effort. Al those fence sitters will have packed up and gone home now. Cant really blame them

Unless the club acts swiftly and comes out on the front foot. As Bad as last night was, it may be a positive in the long term.

I am waiting to hear a statement from the club. Not just an email, but a statement.

"Paul Roos is now the coach of Melbourne, he will name his assistants in the coming days. All bar Todd Viney have been asked to pack their bags and F off. Viney will become the midfield coach. Players Newton, Dunn, Strauss, Maric, Davey, Morton, and Bennell have been told they will be playing at Casey until they learn to 1. Put there heads over the ball 2. Put their bodies on the line. 3. To never shirk a contest and 4. Show some real passion for the colours pink and blue. If they can't do this by the end of the year they will also be told to F off."

Yes, something along those lines. It's time we gave the Footy World a scare, being a nice footy club will never win respect.

Did our membership go down overnight?

34,706.

I'm unemployed at the moment fellas, and because of that I couldn't afford my membership this year. I live in Sydney and don't get to go to any games unless I can afford to go to Melbourne. I still like to get my memership if I can. Because of all this, I was going to ask the folks for a membership for my birthday next month. Not anymore, unless the club takes REAL action or even a proper, meaningful response. I just can't justify spending money I can't afford on supporting a club which doesn't want to win. Especially when I can't go to games.

well ... unfortunately I think the wheels have fallen off our membership 'growth' wagon :(

Suffice to say any real improvement in that number will be directly proportional to our success over the next months.

currently at 34901... only 99 for the magical 35000 but I think Dale Kerrigan would have something to say about 40000 !!

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
