If he does not play, i think we chase him as he might be willing to leave after being dropped for 2 GF's.

A good young ruckman who will be a good 2nd for Jamar for a few years then overtake him and can start playing round 1 next year

Good idea, but would be very expensive, and tough to outbid other clubs and the Suns

Was a top 10 draft pick, is rated very highly by StKilda, is still very young and improving, probably rated by all AFL clubs.

I agree if he cannot make the 22 two years running for a GF, he is not rated that Highly by the Aints.

And by the time he is, there window for more GF's will be shut, while ours is opening.

Definately worth a pursue.....

I think we'll have an even slightly better chance on one or the other (McEvoy or Stanley), If Gardiner is talked into going around again. Which, I fully expect they Will do.

Didn't the saints sign him for 1 yr just a few weeks ago?

Doesn't sound like they rate him too highly.

McEvoy & 2nd Round Pick to the Dee's

Jones & Warnock to the Saints

McEvoy will be one of the best ruckman in the comp. He is a big body that can play forward also. A great mark and kick! He is exactly what we are looking for...

Go hard Dee's!

There are a few ruck types rumoured to be coming loose this year. McEvoy may be one. Hale may be another. One from Carlton maybe. Add your own favourite rumours.

We need backup for Jamar for the next 2 years until Spencer/Gawn/Fitzpatrick are ready. We can either keep PJ for this, or try to get something in trade. Can't rely on the draft, as we need an AFL ready hard bodied ruck, not a 19yo who will take years.

GC will be looking for one or two of these types to shoulder the load until young Zac and any other beanpoles they have or may draft come good as AFL level ruckmen in 2014/15. And they will be the Lola's of the 2010 trade period (whatever GC wants, GC gets). You can then make your own list of who else may be chasing them.

We don't need an absolute star. We don't need a relatively young lad. Our need is for 2 years, so we could take a 28 to 30 yo. So rule 1 for this trade is: "Don't get into bidding wars (especially with GC) and waste our value". If we can get someone surplus to requirements or disatisfied with their current club for a reasonable price (which I put at pick 30 plus one of Bate/Jetta/Maric - our surpluses) then go for it. I think McEvoy will command a higher trade price than this. I would not, on any account, use our pick 12 for this trade. Remember, we don't need a star ruck here, just 2 years insurance on the Russian's cruciate ligaments.

If we can't get anyone on trade, then we can either retain PJ or look for a mature age rookie. Or both.

McEvoy may well now be out of the running. Gardiner was off the ground for a fair bit of the 2nd half, so McEvoy may well get a start in the replay GF. Off course, if he is left out again, he will be out of there faster than a winged mammal from the infernal regions.

What makes anyone think the Saints would let McEvoy go?

They'd have to be mad.

He's set to be their number 1 ruckman for the next decade.

Why would they be so stupid?

And King has retired with Gardiner very likely to soon follow.

We don't have a chance in hell of getting the young fella.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
