Jurrah's Mark

Featured Replies

As an aside to this. It was sad to to see how this inspiring effort had zero impact on the team. After Jurrah kicked the goal from the mark to put us within 11 points Port killed us for the rest of the game. Shows how switched off we were.

Echo.

I'm surprised about the debate. Jurrah was up higher and stayed there for longer after seemingly being out of position. Love how he held onto the ball even while falling head first.

I like both, hard to separate.

A SEN poll this morning was running at 83% for Jurrah out of the two. They can't all be Melbourne supporters.

Any good footy judge should give an extra point to 'the ride' factor of the mark.

Jurrah & Goddard's jump/leap are almost identical, Jurrah gets the extra point for the extra 'ride' he got once on top of the shoulders.

Yep, they were very similar marks.

Amazing that we had two like that taken in the same round.

If I was the AFL, I would suspend voting on this weeks MOTW and put both marks straight into the final vote at the end of the year. Both marks deserve to be in the MOTY vote.

Goddards was very stylish, a classical high mark, whereas Jurrah's grab had something electric about it.

Very difficult to split them.

That's rubbish.

Liam has taken a while to recover the confidence in his shoulder, following his major surgery earlier in the year. He's been dying to take a screamer like this one for a few weeks now and if he has a good pre-season, get ready for something special in 2011 as you ain't seen nothing yet.

I can't recall anything for the moment this season that comes close to Jurrah & BG's.

Great for the game. The AFL would be loving it.

Jack Riewoldt and Luke McPharlin have taken some good'uns.

Not as good as Jurrah and Goddard's though.

It's stupid that one of Liam or Goddard's will be eliminated this week.

Like when Yze's ripper goal from the pocket was eliminated against Essendon fans voting for a Fletcher bomb at the Telstra Dome.

Yep, Reiwoldt against St Kilda, McPharlin vs Melbourne at Subi, and Scott Gumbleton against the Crows at AAMI were probably the top 3 until this week.

But Goddard and Jurrah are definately the two best ATM.

That's why I suggested the AFL suspend voting this week and just put both marks through to the grand final voting. Otherwise which ever mark gets eliminated this week will be superior to 2 of the marks in the final.

Is it true that he hurt his hammy yesterday?

I still maintain that one day he'll go mental and make some poor opposition backline his [censored], kicking 15 goals and taking 4 MOTY demon_cool.gif

well arent we a blessed bunch. smith, farmer , the ox, robbo and now the JURRAHCAINE

Jumping Jeff White took some beauties

Yes. Saw them earlier on OTC. Riewoldt's was pretty good. I think Ash35's opinion should happen. Both should be nominated this week. Both deserve to be there in the final.

Having seen both marks again, I think the height that Jurrah reached and his prolonged hang time should see him win it.

Goddard's was phenomenal, but the ride was shorter and he didn't reach the same height. I mean Jurrah leaped over Watts who is 196cm.

Both great marks, and which ever one wins the nomination this week will no doubt go on to win the overall award (and the crappiest prize in the history of competitions!)

JOY!

As per the AFL website... VOTING IS NOW OPEN!!

Liam Jurrah vs Brendan Goddard vs Trenth Cotchin (poor fella)

Get on board, peeps!

Hopefully this is the week where the AFL finally realises the current system is stupid. The system should be that, after the 22 rounds, the best 20 or so marks from the entire season are put up for a vote for MOTY. That way you get the best 20, not the best from each round, which means you get situations like this where one of Jurrah or Goddard's marks won't be in the shortlist despite being better than every other mark up for MOTY. It's pretty simple, really.

Of course, this is just MOTY, not the Brownlow. Doesn't actually matter. But it's a fine example of stupidity if you ask me.

Why did my desk just rise reading that ?

Both great marks but Farmers was better . Reakon like Farmer , Jurrah will take 1 for all time before he's done tho' .

...

Don't worry too much T_U, Jurrah will take a better one this week and it'll be even more of a non-issue B)

Just such a shame that Liam Jurrah took that absolute Screamer wearing that Putrid White Outfit the AFL inflict upon us.

In years to come people will look at that picture and say "What Team did he play for?"

I hope some one can do a bit of Photo Shop work on the Pictures... B)

That was one of the first things that I thought of considering that that piece of footage will surely be used as part of promotional purposes for both the club and the league next year....

At least he is a cult hero amongst the league compared to our last MOTY winner....

I'll work on that ;)
