Most often these days your right, but did you notice how both teams seemed to man up, 'man on man', all day.

A nice rarity.

And space to operate in, forward.

Playing man-on-man defence doesn't necessarily mean you line up against the one opponent most of the time.

It just means you guard a man rather than space, rotating often to cover whoever is open and for efficiency of manning up quickly and/or covering ground.

If you watch the game the players are continuously pointing and shouting instructions to rotate and cover in real-time as the play develops.

There is also a bit of "help-defense" as in basketball.

So opposition supporters are moaning about us tanking after a thrashing of the swans, imagine if we'd had Moloney, Junior, Bate (in form), Grimes, Petterd and Trengove available! Unfortunately we're going to have to get used to the tanking gibe, which is fair enough cos realistically the sides picked last year and tactics employed did not set us up for winning. Over the next 5 years we will really reap the benefits of that, and so if that means putting up with tanking gibes, so be it.

I don't think that this argument always has basis. You're insinuating that we would have put up an even better performance with those players on the weekend, but I doubt it. It shows that we've got greater depth than years past, but we wouldn't have played any better against the Swans with the players you've named. We may not have even played as well.

I agree. Some of those players mentioned for instance, arguably might not of provided some of the pace that was on offer from the weekend. Our pace and ability to spread quickly was simply too much for the Swans at times and resulted in many scoring shots.

Morton was the only player that came close to breaking even.

Unfortunately he went the other side of an even result, but against a 2-time brownlow medallist, it's still a respectable result.

The swans didn't have any other winners on the day, bar maybe Hanneberry.

Scully did play on him for a while, but I didn't regard Scully's performance as a loss in any way, shape or form.

Goodes beat Morton fair and square. Goodes got one back on Morton.

Hanneberry was great too. Don't think he went truly head to head with Scully but Hanneberry's game was better. Great player in the making.

As for the opposition. Rather be hated then be everyone's second team. I actually love it too that they are starting to get their backs up. They know.

So are you saying Goodes beat Morton, because Morton slacked off because the Demons had a comfortable lead? I don't care if we are winning by 100 points, or losing by 100 points, but I expect every player to be giving 100% effort until the final siren. If Morton is not prepared to do that, he should not be playing.
