Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

could live with that DC, i don't love it, but hey it's 1,000 times better than the white Rubbish.

It's obvious we do not HAVE to wear white, we have just not rocked the boat yet.

What coloursocks do you propose....Dark Blue or more Red??

Has to be more red as it's the brighter colour?? UNLESS we go for a really light blue.

I have a feeling we'll be donning a predominantly white strip though... :(

Look DC and I have butted heads for ages on this but for me, if you change the quernsey at all you may aswell make it the only 'other' one we have to wear.

So that red one won't do.

They will still make us wear a white one against Essendon, Crows, GC, etc.

And just so no-one accuses me of some sort of heresy, I agree that clash guernseys are required but if it is our home game - I would prefer we stay in the rooms or cop a fine than wear anything other than our NAVY blue jumper with a blood red yoke, blue shorts, and red socks.

I thought it was worth clarifying a few things.

Firstly, it is the AFL who decrees the need for clash jumpers.

As far as I am aware, they have never stated that they need be white, although that is a preference, consistent with other sports, particularly in the US. You might remember a few years ago, St Kilda had a yellow clash jumper.

A red jumper still clashes with some clubs, which requires us to have three jumpers. In 2009 year we wore our traditional jumper, a red jumper and a white jumper. In 2010, we had the traditional strip, and the white jumper.

Red is therefore not an option. As far as I’m concerned, a predominately red jumper is still not a Melbourne jumper.

Simply, a clash jumper can’t clash. For the same reason, the royal blue Melbourne jumper doesn’t work, and given that we managed to wear the jumper for 12 years and not make finals, it is not held in any esteem.

Given the lack of contrast, we are required to add a non-MFC colour into the design, which is the most disappointing aspect of this issue. We have chosen white.

Personally, I don’t support clash jumpers, particularly for the original clubs. I think clashes are generally overrated. I don’t think people have difficulty with Melbourne vs Essendon/Carlton/Brisbane/Port, and now with Freo taking red out of their strip, I doubt whether that is now a clash. We will continue to argue this.

In some cases, clashes are the result of clubs changing their designs and/or new clubs entering the competition. This was an issue when I was at Freo, and the club happily created the white jumper, which was very popular with Freo supporters.

Collingwood is a non-issue in this debate, and a distraction. Apart from North, they are able to manage their situation with their alternate white back, black back options. Essendon is different, and they shouldn’t be exempted from any requirement to have an alternate strip although I can understand why they have stood firm. Unfortunately, we didn’t make this stand a few years back but neither did most clubs.

Our new clash strip will be predominately white; the design is far more traditional and will be released shortly. It has an MCC feel about it, remembering that the MCC colours are navy, red and white. No cartoon characters. We will argue for navy shorts, and we will also argue that we shouldn’t have to wear it often, if at all.

There you go.

That Gold Coast thing isn't a proper jumper anyway. Looks like the kind of thing a road construction Gang wears-We should never KowTow to that Rubbish!!

And as far as Essenscum go I suggest we wear our Home strip when we play them away

They did it us this year and there were no consequences or fines

Plus we played a few home games against them in recent years in our away strip

I reckon they owe us for at least the next decade in compensation

Thanks Cam for clubs perspective

I wish you luck with the navy shorts. As you know the NRL allow coloured shorts

This will go a long way to breaking up that "all white" from a distance look

Best of luck too on trying to reduce the number of defined clashes

As other have said... thanks Cam.

I love Cam's fantastic communication with all those associated with the MFC - even gets on the Demons' fans forums!! We love it and appreciate it, Cam. :)

At least we now know that we haven't been forced to wear predominantly white - it's a board decision by the club. And I for one, like most of us here, will support whatever the club comes up with.

This is such a pitch perfect post.

I really hope he took ages writing this post.

He gave both sides reason to buy into his position and didn't hide the fact that the result isn't ideal.

Take note kiddies when you are doing your VCE - have your viewpoint/decision but also point out, effectively, that good people can disagree and that there are always two sides to every argument.

Unless we are invading Iraq. Sorry to point that out but there are exceptions to every rule.

Except the 'exception rule' - that has no exception. Which backs up the rule as it is the exception to the 'exception rule.'

Did you support the boards decision when they decided to go silver?

Not disagreeing with your sentiments, Deezman but you should always keep a little in reserve

Yes Cam's communication was great, appreciated, comprehensive and to the point. No spin there.

I thought everyone (no matter what side of the fence) could take some positives from it

And its nice to think us bigoted keyboard heroes have a voice no matter how small

Its a great club to feel part of

Well Daisycutter got up this morning to find all this.

Discussion over it would seem.

Looks like white again boys.

old dee, it was always going to be white, at least for the short/medium term. I am a realist underneath

I thought there were plenty of positives though

1. Navy shorts (maybe). This has a big impact on % of white

2. Reduced number of clash definitions (maybe) working towards none

3. No cartoon like graphics

I would consider these significant "wins", but then I'm a glass half-full kinda guy

I wonder if my email prompted the response

It was good to get such a comprehensive explanation of the club's thinking. For a long time we have laboured over a lack of detail both from the AFL and the club, so we have had to speculate on a lot of issues. At least now we have a better framework for future discussions.

I look forward to the release of our new clash jumper. Then might be a good time for further robust discussion, eh.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
