...that's according to Nathan Jones on Twitter a few minutes ago.

Sure hope he's right! Would be great to see Wona strutting his stuff again on the big stage!

Go Dees!

He looks in great shape. He has really trimmed down. I am sure with all his family watching from the stands he will play a blinder and vindicate the faith the club has shown him.

Go Dees!

Wona is in our long term plans if fully fit. Is young and exciting.

He's got genuine goal sense, he's a good mark and crumber and importantly he's an accurate kick for goal (always important as a forward).

He's also got good forward line pressure which is crucial these days.

Jurrah, Bennel, Wona, Davey sounds a whole lot better than Betts, Yarran, Garlett

As much as I'd like to agree with you. Betts, Yarran have been very solid

and crumber

Is he? I always thought of him as a small leading forward with good goal sense and always able to find space.

If Wonna fires on saturday night we could win the game. He can lift the side, particularly up in Darwin.

Might have to hit the Bentleigh Club & watch it live.

If you saw his 4 goal game against freo, that was some awesome crumbing.

But yes, I agree he is more a small lead up guy in the Medhurst mould.

Always good to have a few strings to your bow though

If you ask most commentators, it's "Gartlett". Sorry had to put that in because it really sh&$*s me that they can't pronounce his name right. Continue.

BTW, very excited to see Aussie live in the AFL for the 1st time tomorrow night. I've seen him in 2 VFL games but never in the AFL (was overseal all of 2008). Up here in Darwin he should get a huge reception.

Go Dees!!!!!

It will be good to see Aussie back - he has been missed. (You've gotta really love the frog dance!)

He's certainly a crumber too. His crumb off a Brad Miller or was it Green's marking attempt against Freo is the perfect example.

It's been so long.....

Refresh my memory Aussie !

The 21-year-old Melville islander has taken 21 months to get back into the Demons' premiership side.

I'm moving to the Northern Territory, where we are apparently premiers.

Ahh, the NT News. One day they will get something right and hopefully that was it.

Some of the stuff they came up with in the 90's (when I lived there) made for a good laugh. I once was part of a front page story because a fishing boat I worked on broke down in the harbour.

Still it was better than seeing Eddies head in the paper every day.

All the best with your move. Hope things work out up there for you.

Wonna is good on the lead but he still the only true natural crumbing forward on our list. Davey may end up back there in the latter stages of his career but at present I see it as close to our biggest deficiency.

LOL.. Good one Jaded. Can I come up there to.

Mate, you forgot Jetta. You can't forget Jetta. Jetta is one of the boys, the biggest 'goer' of the lot.

Sun shining in Darwin at the moment. But as usual (since I've been here) a few clouds hovering around.

Weather update (if anyone is interested), it has rained once today for about 10 mins. Not very heavy. Patches of blue sky. Plenty of cloud. None of it looks too menacing. Hot. Sticky.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
