Is this even a possiblity? When is he out of contract?

On the idea alone, I can't see how someone could be all for keeping Aussie and Maric but against Alwyn Davey. Even with his iffy form and body, I'd take him over either of them at this stage.

Robert Warnock is a perfect example of looking past the fact that we have a player's brother. Look at the player's ability. Alwyn Davey had one breakout year. He was dropped from one of the 4 worst teams in the league this year. He doesn't get enough of the ball, and isn't damaging enough with it.

We have Wonaeamirri, Jetta and Maric who can all play Davey's role, but better. And the potential cost of getting him just makes it totally unworthwhile.

Joel fitted into our teams needs?

He has added experience to the backline and that's it. We have plenty of backs? Rivers playing for Casey this week is proof.

We got him because he was the only worthwhile pickup in the pre season draft. A number of positions? Where else could he play?

On Joel's form last year, nobody would have said he would get a game at Melbourne !!!! Nobody !!!

It's not about current form jayceebee.

Joel has played fuill back, chb, hbf, wing is that enough..

He played 22 H&A games in a team that was an AFL finalist in 2009. MFC were a bottom dwelling underperformin side.

On this site it was aptly recognised by a number of posters that JoelMac would add something at MFC. He would have clearly been selected for MFC.

You do love the melodrama to cover some gaping holes in your argument.

Rubbish. He played the majority of games last year; and okay too, until Voss left him out of the semi, with everyone scratching their head as to why. Including Brisbanians.

Brisbane had plenty of options down back/half back.

In any event, all the points made above are valid and true. MFC & Aaron tried hard to get him across a couple of years ago and he turned us down. Now he struggles for a game in an ordinary team and we have Aaron, Jetta, Bennell, Wona already.

Agreed ID & Titan.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
