Bennell answers critics?

His pace and skills are helpful up forward at the moment.

As for whether he's answered the critics, I imagine the jury's still out for them.

It can take one moment to lose respect, and quite a bit longer to earn it.

What dee luded said. Keyser- JB wouldn't have been under any disillusions as to why he was dropped, the reason would have been made crystal clear- And I would hope dropping him to work on his deficiencies would have helped him- not have the opposite effect.

In any case it’s all irrelevant now because he just came off a cracker... however, (& please don't think i'm a troll.. just merely stimulating conversation) if he does squib it big again, what then??

Go Dees!!

How would you know? He played one effective Qtr where thankfully, he influenced the game.

Thats what we wanted from him. Thats how he played last year.

What he has dished up this year prior to yesterdays last Qtr, has been crap.

He needs to keep it up. Because there are other youngsters who deserve a game.

Has the critisism stung him enough to make the penny drop long term? We won't know for a little while till the dust settles, & he relaxes again. Then we'll see what he's made of.

I, personally see his talent & want him to not only succeed, but star. I hope your right, that he's been sorted.

Well if you called his first 3 qtrs crap love to know your thoughts on the rest of the team espec after a 1 goal first half

easily in our best 4th or 5th player for the entire day

As I mentioned in another thread I thought he was just as good the week before against the Pies besides a couple of contests he could have gone harder at vs Pies.

His skill level is improving compared to the preseason where he had the run and carry out of defence but he would turn the ball over often. Hopefully we continue to see the upward improvement and consistancy from him. He could turn out to be a beauty.

His last two weeks have been pleasing I reckon, and should give the footy department a lot of confidence when it comes to putting players up and down every week. They've stuck with Dunn and seen results. Newton is being persisted with, and I reckon if there's room for him there HAS to be room for Bennell. They could have been forgiven for dropping JB, they stuck fat. I think it says as much about them as it does Jamie.

I'm hoping the talk after last week got him angry. Either because he cramped and was keen to prove people wrong, or because he squibbed and wanted to prove he was worth persisting with.

Either way he responded quickly. Very pleasing.

Bennell has alot of skill and should be persisted with.

Newton is a beneficiary of consequence and would not be there if there were half decent options. Newton was put on the rookie list at 2009 year end. I have seen nothing to suggest he wont be gone at the end of 2010.

I am not sure what Dunn has delivered to date but has confirmed the question marks that surround his performances in now his sixth year. Flaky at best.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
