I think he makes some valid points, particularly regarding the time and manner in which Watts was unveiled which was a resounding failure.

Rubbish.

2 important things happened that day.

1. The crowd was 8 - 10 thousand more thanks to Jack and on a wet day with our form it helped keep the AFL off our back for another year.

2. Jack got a great lesson it just how much work was reuired from him. Remember he had been playing some classy football at casey

The article is absurd.

How dare a club with no marquee players, and no stars, and with NO money try to grow its brand and take it's share of the footy market. It's clear he follows another club, and doesn't want to see little MFC plug its future and advertise.

EVERYONE in football knows we struggle with money. And if they DIDN'T push Watts, Scully and Trengove as a big part of our future, then the REAL journalists (who haven't even gotten into the same ballpark as this hack) would get on our case ten times as much as this.

Fair dinkum. He takes a swing at a poor club struggling for wins and he claims WE'RE advertising too much?

Go get a degree. This industry is full of bottom feeders like you.

No need for protective armour among Demon fans Ash. Just put on the Mossad gear; horn rimmed glasses, red nose and tennis shoes and you'll be right. They all look like that out at Casey anyway.

Of course, I will demand a right of reply on BPL in the likely event of a Melbourne victory v Hawthorn in Round 1.

These articles are worth filing and reading again in 2-3 years. There is a major difference between Gonzo journalism & Pure Hack Journalism Ash....

Don't people see that the perceived pressure that we put on these players, is merely unrealistic expectations of them that we hold ourselves? They are only failing in our view due to imaginary acceptable levels we have set ourselves.

These players don't fail to perform because of the pressure we put on them - they are largely unaware of said pressure and expectations, being too focused on what they themselves expect to achieve.

BPL somehow tenuously linking a physical injury to expectations of supporters..?

This is an article written for footy-addicted people like us that frequent forums and create this scenario in our own heads.

And many have been tragically sucked right in...

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
