I think the Dees should definetly draft Max Gawn with pick 18 or 34, he is 207cm and would be the second tallest ruckman in the AFL, I think, surely in a couple of years of good training and experience he would be a valuable asset just as Sandilands is at Freo.

I have also been thinking about this guy. Does anyone know much about his work around the ground.

At 206cm could be just the guy we need to give our emerging mids first use of the ball.

I played against him him once in a Under 19s VAFA match when he would have been about 16. Was completely dominant, literally stood in the middle of grass paddock that is the Ormond home ground and took a mark every single time we tried to move the ball forward. I think he got promoted to the seniors the next week which is not a bad effort for a 16 year old. Hurt his knee earlier in the year so it will be interesting to see where he goes. I would definitely be interested at 34 if we choose to use this pick

Surely at 206cm someone will take a punt on him, regardless... If not in the NAB Draft then the rookie or pre-season drafts. If he is able to play, he'll be on a list. Is he old enough/eligible now?

I doubt our PSD pick will be used so I'm all for two of him/Vardy/Craig to be drafted at 18 and 34

I think Vardy is a better prospect than Gawn. I would be very pleased with Vardy at pick 18. If Gawn slipped through to the rookie draft we should consider him.

Think gawn would be gone before then. 206cms with a reasonable leap and can take a good grab. Think we should grab him at 34 if around. A project to be sure, interesting to see how he would have rated pre-injury. Think he was right up there with Vardy.

at 207cm you cant go wrong, that sell out warnock is 204cm and getting paid 400k a year and we still dont know whether he can play

Having never actually seen him play and knowing almost nothing about him, all I can say is that he didn't seem like a beanpole tall kid. Could easily develop into the same kind of overall build as Sandilands.

My only reason against grabbing him at 34 would be the emotional pull of bringing in Dylan Grimes. Unless Callum Bartlett or Troy Taylor slip that far by some miracle, or perhaps Fitzpatrick.

Heard this too. Fair to say my ears pricked at hearing him speak highly of him. There isn't just interest from Freo either. Few clubs.

i would be more than happy to take him at pick 18 considering the amount of interest, we really need a good ruckmen and to be honest pick 18 can be lucky dip pick anyway in a so called shallow draft

Bailey from Hawthorn may make a few people think twice about drafting one so tall with early knee problems.

My cousin is 17 and 206cm ruckman, doesn't mean i reckon he's going to play AFL footy. Takes a heap more, not to say Gawn won't make it though. Just saying don't pin your hopes on his measurements.

It seems like every big man has had injury problems this year.

Could be a blessing in disguise if they drop down a little and we can pick up good big men with later picks.

I'd be happy with Gawn at 18. He could be gone by 34, and we need a new ruckman.

Yeah a tall with a knee reco worries me as well......its a bit of a risk, I'd prefer a punt on Liam Patrick, if we're punting ...
